happiness is never beyond reach. it’s not in the distant past, nor on the horizon of the future. it’s right in front of you. as simple as a day’s beer or another’s beautiful skies.

Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Huang Bo-Reum

I was recommended this book after Midnight Library. A fiction novel that depicts the life of Yeongju, going through a midlife crisis, hence quitting job and marriage to open a bookstore. Through the bookstore she found herself, happiness, friends, and a new partner. A self-care healing book mostly and a little dry at some parts.

main takeaways:
- solitude sets us free, just as loneliness brings depth to our lives
- books are not meant to remain in your mind, but in your heart. a forgotten sentence or story can come back years later to guide you
- happiness is in the little things everyday
- life never improves in a flash, only day by day, bit by bit

fav quotes:
A day well spent is a life well lived

potential philosophical reads
Talleyrand duff cooper
The Artist, the Philosopher, and the Warrior by Paul Strathern
Frederick the great : King of Prussi
The Art of Worldly Wisdom by Balthasar Gracian
Cato the Younger: Life and Death at the End of the Roman Republic
David Fideler's Breakfast with Seneca: A Stoic Guide to the Art of Living
Lives of the Stoics: The Art of Living from Zeno to Marcus Aurelius
The Architect of Power: Cardinal Richelieu
The Book: Anabasis (The Persian Expedition).

List of books I'm planning to read since my list is running down/lack of availability in libraries

Prob gonna get a Kindle and get the electronic version before committing to a physical book

Reason for these books is basically I just prompted Gemini on my thots and approach to life, revert what kind of descriptive it thinks of me and recommend me books of historical figures who have the same life philosophy

also, it reminds me of the black mirror episode whereby the main character's wife starts spouting ads after she had her brain rewired online in bid to extend her lifespan
if you're on claude, remember to claim your free $50 extra usage for Opus 4.6

but the acceleration is speeding up in a *very* tangible way. not enough people read “machines of loving grace” and took it seriously. it’s all happening.

it gets even weirder when you consider that the average person has absolutely no clue that any of this is happening. that part weirds me out. it all sounds so schizo even though it’s obviously not.

sometimes i wish i was one of those blissfully ignorant normies haha. but it’s all just too fun. wouldn’t change a thing tbh.

just got a huge claude unlock after getting some help from an engineer

its getting more fun now that i've set up some basics

i'm burning my tokens like paper.. yet my usage is not enough to justify claude max

at least my side project might finally be done soon
When a woman monitors her partner’s social media activity, scrutinizing likes, following, looking for patterns, or when she expresses discomfort with her partner’s female friendships, or when she feels threatened by her partner following models or influencers, or when she uses withdrawal, silence, or provocation to test loyalty or when sheexits a relationship after consuming endless content insisting “if he wanted to, he would.” This vigilance is dignified as intuition, boundary-setting, self-respect, having standards, departure is celebrated as growth.

this is something i’ve been talking about for years with my friends

social media is fracturing relationships

spent the last 4h claude-ing my new mini project i'm trying to build a personal book bank! turns out after all my efforts in keying books & reviews, the website does not reflect whatever i've done on another person's device... part of the process innit
it is done! much thanks to Nouv for inspiring me to start on this project

it is a book collection of the books i’ve read in life, similar to the reviews i’ve been doing here

included some stats to track my reading habit, search features to recommend books to people easily, and quotes i liked

everything took about ~2 weeks because i faced a lot of technical difficulties at the start learning to claude + claude usage limitations on top of busy schedule

will continue to iterate on it and add books as i go, but here it is!

looking forward to starting my next claude side project

you should have ~50% of your time completely unallocated to just think + be

i am a believer of this too, maybe the % can be a little bit more flexible
