What you are looking for is in the library by Michiko Aoyama

interesting concept, i really liked it

especially how all the short stories are connected, which made me appreciate it more

main takeaways:
- start small, just start
- importance of side questing/hobbies
- when it comes to happiness, nothing is better or worse — there is no definitive state
- it is because of the unexpected nature of life that we enjoy the wonderful surprises (people and events)
- every small action of ours greatly impacts the next person in their own story which leads to a butterfly effect

fav quotes:
Things change, even if you want them to stay the same. At the same time, you can try to change, but you will still remain the same.

Ultimately it’s all for the best that many things don’t turn out the way we hoped. Try not to think of upset plans or schedules as personal failure or bad luck.

Streisand Effect

Streisand effect, phenomenon in which an attempt to censor, hide, or otherwise draw attention away from something only serves to attract more attention to it. The name derives from American singer and actress Barbra Streisand’s lawsuit against a photographer in 2003, which drew attention to the photo she was suing to have taken off the Internet.

agree with this

i would often tell friends that i evaluate someone by how they bounce back from setbacks

your goal in life should be to reduce the amount of time it takes you to get out of a bad state

to be less reactive and not let it control you

"Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react."

If you've made it this far and you've found yourself in this, I have only one question for you, Paul:

When are you going to start living life?

good read, recommended to take 5 minutes https://benroy.substack.com/p/notes-on-internet-addiction
Being so online has implications for our personal lives. Common side effects include increased anxiety, depression, envy, and insecurity. That, along with shrinking attention spans and disrupted sleep.

Being so online has implications for wider culture as well. People are becoming more average over time because we’re all consuming the same content curated for us by TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X and so on. This is often talked about as “algorithmic flattening,” and what that means is when we all consume the same inputs, we create similar outputs whether that’s in the form of art, startups, research, or even thoughts. We're all losing our floofy spiky uniqueness and being eroded into a standard shape, which crushes originality and creativity at a societal scale.

was recently posed this question

What are the principles of marketing to you?

my answer:
marketing is pretty much sales to me, and having some sales background, i would say
a) clarity in message/pitch, because customers do not have time to try decipher your sophisticated messaging (KISS)
b) consistent branding throughout -> trust and credibility
c) audience always comes first, do not create anything that you wouldn't want to watch/see
d) sell dreams and emotions

wanted to gather some thoughts on this question, whether you’re an experienced marketer or not

what are the principles of marketing to you?
