"Can't compete where you can't compare"
stumbled upon this phrase today and my interpretation of it is that when there is no basis of comparison (aka you can't compare), then there is no competition
feels applicable to situations of envy or comparisons in general

why are you here in humblespace?
awesome!
looks like we have majority in discussions of interesting topics & like-mindedness
a big reason why i chose to start humblespace is to bring together a community of like-minded people and i hope it continues growing this way
a small corner of the internet to find your people, rest, and learn about random things (even yourself), away from the ai nonsense thats proliferating around us
why do it alone when others could potentially benefit and enjoy it too?
my take is that small spaces like this will continue growing over time as well
enjoy your stay here in humblespace, everyone 😃
as usual, please send any interesting reads/materials in the chat whenever! the community contributions have been pretty good thus far:

i wonder if entrepreneurism grows or dies now that
1) much more competition, harder to make it, MNCs wiping out SMEs (see local businesses shutting down due to rental etc. or getting undercut in pricing)
2) incredibly easy to start something (an app or tool)

one of my main prompts in life: if you leave this world no better than before, can you say you’ve truly lived? do good, no matter how small always
today, i reconnected with a friend after 2-3 years, and was told that our conversations back then has helped her a lot in terms of growth
was happy to have received those kind words (and a card!)
even if its just one person, i think its better than none
anything above zero compounds!

I'm increasingly sensing that "people who get really good at AI will survive & thrive" is likely a cope
It doesn't require much skill, obviously it will also require less & less skill...I don't think any 'edge' you have today as a mere AI 'power user' will…

yknow whats ironic, i think this article was written by AI based on initial read off cadence, format, and sharpness
Artificial intelligence accelerates everything. It shortens the distance between intention and action.
But speed without direction leads nowhere — faster.
Today, millions of Koreans move from message to purchase, from question to decision, without pausing. It feels like progress.
In many ways, it is. But progress that replaces thinking with convenience comes at a cost.
In the age of AI agents, the most important skill may not be prompting or coding.
It may be the simple habit of thinking — before tapping “Confirm.”

Not long ago, choosing a restaurant in Seoul required some effort. You searched on Naver. You skimmed blog reviews. You checked ratings on Kakao Map. You compared prices. You asked friends on KakaoTalk. Sometimes, you still had to make a phone call.Soon,…

agree with how we pause lesser and lose intention in doing things, now that everything is much easier with AI
the thinking process slowly becomes non-existent and soon intention disappears

A biological theory suggesting that a previous mate can influence the characteristics of a female's future offspring by a different male.
It has largely been debunked, but has worked on animals.

Is cultural time actually continuous?

We think of time as being continuous, as involving one event following naturally, causally after a preceding event. But living within the digital archive disintegrates our basic, linear perception of time. Since every era is equally available, and all events are potentially happening at the same time, the chain of causality and influence breaks down completely.
The internet functions to preserve everything, and it’s easy to get lost in that great, gray sea. The problem of selection, of where to put your attention, is increasingly grave and increasingly intractable. The mind cannot find a definite port-of-call in this endlessly heaving, endlessly shifting reality. Curating vibes isn’t enough.
