America has a very strong fitness culture, in the top 10 of countries worldwide at least, even if Americans donโt walk as much due to infrastructure favoring vehicle transportation โ which is nothing new, America didnโt have an obesity problem a few decades ago, and people were driving everywhere back then.
We can infer that the obesity problem is mainly due to diet, and what are Americans eating a lot of today that they didnโt eat as much of before? Seed oils.

I actually spoke with Dr. Kevin MacDonald about this, I remember him agreeing with me that this aristocratic individualism of the ancient Indo Europeans is partly (if not largely) where the West's culture of meritocracy comes from โ the other half coming from Western Hunter Gatherers' egalitarian individualism. The Indo European warbands would recruit people outside of their immediate kinship group if they showed martial talent, which likely included people from out-groups they had conquered. But this ancient European individualism/egalitarianism was nothing like the extreme egalitarianism/individualism we see today manifesting as pathological altruism and race blindness, it was just this mix of treating your peers fairly (as equals) and showing reciprocity โ which ironically are the things that proponents of collectivism want.
