• Fixed an issue with ScrollView that caused the over scroll effect to get stuck after performing a fling gesture.
• Fixed issues that prevented Wi-Fi calling from working in some cases.

• Fixed an issue that prevented notification groups from expanding properly in the notification shade.

• Fixed an issue that could cause the system UI to crash if one app in split-screen mode was closed by swiping up from the Overview screen.

• Fixed an issue when unlocking a device while TalkBalk is enabled where TalkBalk sometimes erroneously stated that the device was still locked before stating that the device was successfully unlocked.
• Fixed an issue with WiFi scanning that sometimes caused scanning to continue even after exiting the Settings app, causing additional power consumption and slower WiFi connectivity until the device was restarted.
• Fixed an issue where, in some cases, Ultra HDR images didn't display correctly in Google Photos.
• Fixed an issue where, when a user who had enabled Fingerprint Unlock tried to launch an activity from Quick Settings on the lock screen on a device that has an in-display fingerprint scanner, the sensor sometimes failed to activate, forcing the user to re-lock the device and unlock the device first before accessing Quick Settings.
• Fixed an issue where, when a user who had enabled both Fingerprint Unlock and Face Unlock tried to launch an intent by tapping on a notification and then authenticated using their face, the intent didn't launch and the user was brought back to the lock screen.
• Fixed an issue where a white or black bar was sometimes displayed between the status bar and the top of an open app.
• Fixed an issue where the background color of the "Add to homescreen" dialog box was fuchsia instead of its usual color.
• Fixed an issue on Pixel Tablet devices where interacting with the device while transitioning from the screen saver to the low light clock could cause the system UI to crash.
• Fixed an issue on Pixel Tablet devices where the home screen sometimes only displayed the wallpaper but no app icons after unlocking the device.
• Fixed an issue on Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold devices that caused the foreground and background colors on certain screens to have insufficient color contrast to enhance accessibility.

Android is getting a new "Unknown tracker alerts" feature. (only with AirTag so far)
The new "Unknown Tracker Alerts" feature announced at I/O 2023 will be coming to devices running Android 6.0 and later starting this month. The feature allows you to receive notifications when someone else's Bluetooth tracker is travelling with you.
Tapping on the notification will help you learn more about the tracker, how to disable it and view a map with the history of the tracker moving with you. You can also tap the "Play Sound" button and the tracker will emit a sound to help you locate it without the tracker owner's knowledge.
If you bring the device to the back of your phone, some Bluetooth trackers can tell you their serial number or additional info about the device owner, such as the last four digits of their phone number.
Also you can manually scan for trackers around you.

Google is delaying the launch of its Find My Device network and trackers because of Apple.
Along with the announcement of Unknown Tracker Alerts (which currently only works with AirTag), Google said it will not launch the Find My Device (FMD) network "until Apple has implemented protections for iOS."
Also, Google has confirmed to 9to5Google that alerts for unwanted use of AirTag trackers are currently based on a custom implementation that differs from the upcoming specification. Android is implementing these alerts now to allay user fears, as Apple's tracker is quite widely available.
Google is working with other tracker manufacturers (Samsung, Tile, Chipolo, eufy Security and Pebblebee) to expand interoperability as part of a joint industry FMD specification.
The FMD network was originally scheduled to launch during the summer, but is now expected to launch before the end of 2023.

'Find my device' settings will get a new switch to 'Store recent location'. Back in the December Google Play System Update changelog, the company announced a new Find My Device feature that will allow you to find your offline devices and accessories using…
Here's how the Find My Device Network settings will look like.
Previously, I showed you that the Find Device settings page will have a new "Store recent location" toggle. The feature has since changed and is called "Find your offline devices". It's all part of the introduction of the Find My Device Network.
Soon, users will be given a choice of four options (see screenshots for details):
• Off - don't use the search network and the device's last location data when it was online.
• Without network - don't use the search network, but retain data about the device's last location when it was online.
• With network in high-traffic areas only
• With network in all areas - even in low-traffic areas.
These changes are currently hidden, and will become available to users along with the launch of the Find My Device Network.

Google Services settings will have a new "Recommended" tab and the account management page will get dynamic colors.
• The new experiment divides the Settings / Google page into two tabs "Recommended" and "All Services". The former will contain tiles with some basics of Google services, while the latter is the familiar settings page.
• The "Manage your Google Account" page will finally get support for system dynamic colors. Previously, it used a "baseline" blue accent, as in the screenshot on the left.
These experiments were discovered in the latest beta version of Google Play Services, and are not yet available to users.

An early look at the new Google watchfaces that will appear in the Pixel Watch 2.
Thanks to an anonymous source at Google, Android Authority has shown off the watchfaces that will appear in Google's second-gen watch. It is currently assumed that they will remain Pixel Watch 2 exclusive.
There will be 4 in total with different customization options:
• Accessible — includes 4 layouts: Circular, Linear, Stacked time, Just time.
• Arc — 3 time options (Max, Minimal and Digital) + 2 complications layouts (on the corners or top and bottom)
• Bold Digital — repeats one of the Android 14 watchfaces. Two layouts: Just Time and Radial.
• Analog Bold: Customize the number of complications (0 to 4). Customize date display, presence of dashes and rounding of numbers.
In addition, the Pixel Watch 2 will come with Wear OS 4, which can extract colours from the current watchface and apply them to the watch's UI.

Cinematic Wallpapers cannot yet run on Android 14. These wallpapers are based on two system apps: 'Cinematic Wallpaper' and 'Android System Intelligence'. The former is already pre-installed in Android 14, and the problem here is with the second app. …
You can now run Cinematic wallpapers on Android 14... if it's rolled out for you.
In early June, I posted that Cinematic wallpapers couldn't work on Android 14 yet because the pre-installed version of Android System Intelligence (ASI) didn't have the necessary service.
There's now a new version of ASI for Android 14 on APK Mirror that includes the required service. But that still doesn't mean that Cinematic wallpapers will appear for you, as the app of the same name has to download the models to the user data partition for that to happen. There's no way you can trigger the downloading of models, so it's just a matter of luck.
In the attached block diagram I have once again given how Cinematic wallpapers work (from my observations) .
The cinematic_wallpaper_warmup_completed ASI flag is responsible for the appearance of the button in the wallpaper picker, and it is activated only after downloading the models in Cinematic wallpapers app.

You may soon be able to "link your [Android] devices" signed into the same Google account together. This will enable "call switching", which lets you switch between devices for calls, as well as "Internet sharing"!
A new "Link Your Devices" menu will appear under Settings > Google > Devices & sharing once this rolls out. The call switching feature might be using the new Telecom Jetpack library that I previously talked about.

Stylus handwriting support is nearly ready to go live on the Pixel Tablet!
The Pixel Tablet, if you aren't aware, supports USI 2.0 styli. When you connect one to the tablet, you'll get the option to select a "default notes app" and "write in text fields".
Tapping "write in text fields" opens up Gboard's new stylus handwriting settings, where you can change the handwriting speed or handwriting stroke width.
You can also tap "try it" to open a text entry field where you can demo Gboard's new stylus handwriting gestures, including writing, deleting, selecting, inserting, joining words, and new line.
(The first screenshot in this post is from a tipster who actually has a Pixel Tablet and a USI 2.0 stylus. The remaining screenshots are from me, who doesn't have a Pixel Tablet so instead had to fake the config.)
Unfortunately, my tipster reports that, despite the fact that Gboard's stylus handwriting settings appears for him WITHOUT any modifications, it doesn't actually work. We may be missing some stylus handwriting library in the build or APK that's required, or possibly some feature flag needs to be toggled first.

By the way, if you're wondering what the heck the "default notes app" is, check out my previous thread where I show a first look at the feature and explain how it works.

This is just my guess, but Google could launch a first-party stylus & keyboard accessory for the Pixel Tablet later this year.
Many features (improved keyboard shortcuts, notetaking role + AppClips API, stylus integration in Settings) just weren't ready for Android 13.
