🇬🇧 Permission auto-reset now available on all Android 6.0-10.0 devices with Play Protect Update

Permission auto-reset was introduced in Android 11. It automatically resets an app's runtime permissions if the app hasn't been used for a few months. This is happening according to Google's timeline, scheduled for Q1 2022.

So, Play Protect settings now shows the "permissions for unused apps" option.
This option also appears on newer androids and opens a separate page in the settings.

🇬🇧 Google looks to be building Bluetooth tracker detection directly into Android

The latest beta version of Google Play Services (22.12.13) contains lines with a direct reference to “Unfamiliar device alerts” and a “Unfamiliar Tag Detected Notification” for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tags.
It also mentions three types of tags: ATag, Finder tag and Tile tag.
Once a tag is identified by your Android device, you might be able to ring it.

🇬🇧 Chris McKillop, engineering director of Google’s Fuchsia project, leaves the company

The engineering lead of Google’s Fuchsia operating system, Chris McKillop, has announced his departure from Google after ten years with the company.
His next destination is Microsoft, working as a VP of Digital Incubation on the Xbox team.
Nothing is changing for the future of Fuchsia at Google, with McKillop calling the current team “one of the best ever assembled” and expressing excitement for the future of the project.
