Many medical and scientific experts agree that bacteria, not influenza viruses, were the most significant cause of death during the 1918 flu pandemic.
"We agree completely that bacterial pneumonia played a major role in the mortality of the 1918 pandemic," says Anthony Fauci.
A study from 2014 indicates why this might have been the case. Masks serve as incubators for bacteria, fungi and other pathogens. Apart from the fact that masks do not affect the spread of the disease, they would need to be replaced every 20 minutes not to harm the wearer (attached pic: petri-dish after 20 min mask wearing).
