Apparently, tapping on the camera visor might be a workaround, but it's uncomfortable because you need to reposition the phone in your hands each time to reach the top part. And mess your camera with greasy fingers, yeah 👍.
This might be not only the thick case issue, but also overall detection of taps, because sometimes it doesn't work at all even without the case.
