🇮🇹 | Statement of condemnation regarding the events that took place two evenings ago in Rome:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

The news that on Tuesday evening in Rome, in the presence and with the complicity of a former Italian Prime Minister and current Senator, images of one of the most revered religious figures of the Islamic world were burned has deeply shaken and outraged us.

In addition to holding the highest political office of a sovereign and independent state such as Iran, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei is a Marjaʿ al-Taqlid (a religious reference for tens of millions of Shiʿa Muslims around the world) and an eminent spiritual authority, recognized as such by religious seminaries and Islamic communities in every nation. Setting his image on fire can only make us understand how, in the West, respect for any moral or religious principle, as well as for the most basic norms of education and decency, is completely ignored, when not outright trampled upon, as in the reprehensible case at hand.

We firmly condemn such an ignoble act, praying that Almighty God, the Holder of all strength and power, may guide those who are astray and cause Truth and Justice to prevail.

Saudis received from Tehran what it didn't from Tel Aviv, and Netanyahu and [Strategic Minister] Dermer were not particularly eager to pay any price to the Saudis either. “If not, then not—no force,” Netanyahu said in one cabinet meeting.

Now the Saudis not just no longer celebrate them, but are trying to undermine the Abraham Accords foundations of support, from Morocco to the UAE.

We warn the Iraqi authorities about the gathering of a specific group of foreign individuals, particularly from India and Pakistan, in sensitive areas such as Bayn al-Haramayn. There are serious concerns that some of these elements are deliberately engaging in sectarian slurs, creating provocation, and then fleeing back to their countries to escape accountability. Such actions are dangerous and threaten the sanctity of holy sites and the fragile unity of the region.

The Iraqi security forces must maintain strict and serious vigilance over the gatherings of foreigners in Najaf, Karbala, Samarra, and Kadhimayn. These cities are not ordinary locations; they are spiritual capitals of the Ummah, and any attempt to exploit them for sectarian agitation must be stopped immediately.

Protecting the shrines also means protecting social harmony. Sectarian incitement inside or around holy sites serves only the enemies of Islam, who seek to ignite internal conflict while remaining hidden in the shadows. Iraq has already paid a heavy price for division, and it cannot afford a repeat of such tragedies.

Firm monitoring, preventive action, and coordination between religious authorities and security institutions are essential to ensure that these sacred spaces remain places of unity, reverence, and resistance against all forms of occupation and fitna.
