The aircraft reportedly touched down at Stewart Air National Guard Base in New York State at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time. Following their arrival, Maduro and his wife were transferred under heavy security to New York City using helicopters and vehicles.

They were first taken to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s headquarters in Manhattan, where humiliating footage reportedly showed them undergoing an initial interrogation in preparation for judicial proceedings. Afterward, they were transferred by helicopter to a detention facility in Brooklyn, and Maduro is expected to be held at the inhumane and dangerous Metropolitan Detention Center.

Maduro is expected to appear before a New York court on January 5 as part of the ongoing legal process. This shameful and treacherous act against a sitting country’s leader represents a dangerous escalation and is likely to lead to severe consequences.
