“Let me say something here, something I’ve said before. Our region is commonly referred to as the Middle East. But what does Middle East even mean? It implies that the center and core of the world is Europe.

It’s like that story of Mulla Nasruddin. When asked, ‘Where is the center of the world?’ he replied, ‘Right where the stake for my donkey’s tether is. This is the center of the world!’

Any region far from Europe is called the Far East, because it is far from Europe. Regions closer, like parts of North Africa, are called the Near East. And those in between are labeled the Middle East. In other words, even the naming of entire regions is based entirely on Europe. That’s how much authority and entitlement Westerners assumed for themselves.

That’s why I insist, we shouldn’t say Middle East. We should say West Asia. It is West Asia, after all. So why do we call it the Middle East?

This spirit of resistance against coercion, domination, and power-seeking by arrogant powers was created by the Islamic Republic. The very first person in the world who proclaimed ‘Neither East nor West’ was our great Imam [Khomeini]. Neither East nor West.”

“Don’t chase after a super-media, seek a super-impact instead!”

Sayyid Mohammad Hashemi, head of the Owj Arts and Media Organization, penned an article titled “Al-Hajj Ramadan in the Battle of Narrative: The Mind of the Resistance and the Heart of Palestine” for Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar newspaper on the 40th day of martyrdom of Mohammad Saeed Izadi — known as Haj Ramadan — one of the senior commanders of the Resistance Axis. A translated excerpt follows:

- Inside Iran, Haj Ramadan was not content with merely leading logistical support for the Resistance Axis. He strove to shape and solidify a strategic public mindset within Iranian media — one that would deeply internalize the centrality of the Palestinian cause. He consistently emphasized to media professionals that the legitimacy of the Palestinian issue is like an elixir for Muslim unity, a common ground between Shi’a and Sunni, Arab and non-Arab.

- Haj Ramadan repeatedly said: “In confronting the Israeli-American enemy, do not wait for a balanced match in media tools or resources.” Instead, he urged maximum and optimal use of available tools. Proper timing and placement were, in his view, the key to media success.

- He called for active, youthful, agile, and non-imitative media that focus not on quantity but on qualitative impact. He believed we should strive not for a ‘super-media’ but for a ‘super-impact’.

- To his devoted team at Owj, Haj Ramzan always emphasized that Owj was a partner, supporter, and fighter for the Palestinian cause. He advised: “Instead of defensive artistic-media actions, we must go on the offensive. Instead of repetition, innovate. Instead of clichés, bring forth creativity and precision.”
