Jolani is not happy that Washington betrayed him through Reuters? Director of Press Relations at the Ministry of Information
Mohammed Al-Saleh
Over the past three months, the Ministry of Information has placed significant emphasis on revitalizing the work of the Directorate of External Media in line with the unprecedented interest shown by foreign media outlets in covering Syria. This stems from our conviction that all media platforms should be present on the ground and that their work should be facilitated in ways that help break away from the sectarian frameworks that have colored their coverage throughout the years of the revolution.
Our efforts have not been limited to easing their entry, issuing the necessary permits, and ensuring their safety. We have also engaged in daily dialogue with them regarding various issues relating to journalism and the political situation in Syria. For instance, the Minister of Information conducted more than 50 separate sessions with journalists, researchers, and media outlets to explain the complexities of the Syrian situation and provide material needed for their work. Our goal was never to impose a government narrative, but rather to contribute to the creation of constructive and responsible journalism that plays a positive role during Syria’s difficult transitional phase—even if that role is critical.
This approach succeeded with many journalists and outlets whose reports helped convey an authentic understanding of Syria. However, it failed with certain major institutions that approached the Syrian experience with arrogance and a superiority complex, aiming to confirm their pre-existing assumptions about what is happening.
One prominent example involved an international agency that contacted us regarding an investigation into economic activity in the new phase and the influential forces shaping it. We responded positively, welcomed them at the Ministry, and promised to reply once they sent us the findings. Indeed, their report arrived, written in a tone that can only be described as definitive, based on what they called “facts” that in our view are indistinguishable from social media content. In order to present a clearer picture, we agreed to send a detailed response within two weeks, given that the topic requires data and testimony from various official entities.
However, the agency insisted on receiving our response before the Syrian-Saudi Investment Forum, seemingly intending to publish the report concurrently to disrupt it. They refused to postpone their publication, despite the author claiming to have spent seven months researching the report. If the agency had truly sought to clarify the situation, it would have considered both our response and its timing. Unfortunately, it’s evident that political motives outweighed adherence to professional ethics.
This pattern repeated with their coastal report. They requested our feedback on findings but didn’t wait for the coastal investigation committee, ignored its observations, and omitted the committee head’s response. They were intent on publishing prior to President Trump signing the executive order to lift sanctions.
They even published a report claiming that the Syrian government had misunderstood messages from the Baku meeting and subsequently launched a military campaign on Suwayda—a dismal piece, considering the government explicitly denied both the meeting and the allegations. The agency never responded to any of the Ministry’s remarks, which were methodological rather than political. It’s clear that the agency, which had previously been lenient with the Assad regime and, perhaps due to staff backgrounds, avoided reporting on Hezbollah or Iraqi militias, is now leading a sustained campaign against the new Syrian government.
The same applies to a renowned news channel that insists on sectarian coverage—possibly influenced by its reporting staff. While they loudly tout media freedom, they ignore the recurring scandals that have plagued their coverage of events such as Gaza, Iraq, and others.

🇮🇷 | Imam Khamenei Speaks at Commemoration Ceremony for the Martyrs of the Recent Imposed War:
During this ceremony, Imam Khamenei described the recent war as a demonstration of the will and strength of the Islamic Republic and a clear manifestation of the unmatched firmness of its foundations. He emphasized that the root cause of enmity toward Iran lies in the enemies’ opposition to the Iranian nation’s faith, knowledge, and unity. He stated:
“By the grace of Allah, our nation will never abandon the path of strengthening its faith and advancing various fields of knowledge. Despite the anger of our enemies, we will, Insha’Allah, elevate Iran to the peak of progress and honor.”
Imam Khamenei, once again offering condolences to the families of the military commanders, scientists, and beloved citizens who were martyred in the recent war, said:
“Alongside the great honor the Iranian nation earned in these twelve days—which the entire world now acknowledges, it succeeded in showing its strength, steadfastness, determination, and capabilities. All were able to sense the power of the Islamic Republic directly.”
He added that the recent war highlighted the remarkable strength of the Islamic Republic’s foundations:
“These events are not new for us. Over the past 46 years, the Islamic Republic has not only faced the eight-year imposed war but has also withstood events such as coups, various military, political, and security seditions, and attempts to provoke the weak-hearted against the nation. It has managed to neutralize all such plots.”
Imam Khamenei explained that the foundation of the Islamic Republic is built upon two key pillars: faith and knowledge. He said:
“Relying on these two pillars, the people and youth of Iran have forced the enemy to retreat in various arenas. They will continue in the same way going forward.”
He clarified that the main reason for the hostility of global arrogance led by criminal America against the Islamic Republic is the religion and knowledge of the Iranian people and their unity under the Qur’an and Islam.
He stated:
“What they claim about nuclear issues, enrichment, and human rights are just pretexts. The real reason for their animosity is the rise of a new voice and the Islamic Republic’s capabilities across various fields of science and knowledge—be it human, technical, or religious.”
Imam Khamenei emphasized:
“By the permission of Allah, the Iranian nation will never abandon its religion or its knowledge. We will take strong steps on the path of strengthening our faith and deepening our scientific development. In the face of the enemy’s frustration, we will raise Iran to the heights of pride and progress.”
