Anyone who wants to study or understand the current crisis in Syria especially in Suwayda, southern Damascus, and Idlib must begin by recognizing one thing: this is not a one-dimensional war. It is a multi-layered geopolitical trap involving intersecting agendas of israel, the US, Turkey, and various regional factions. If you skip the hourly updates, you will misread the ground reality.

There are four primary actors operating in this conflict:

1. HTS (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) – Fully backed by the Americans, Arab Zionists, and Turkish Zionist networks. HTS is a disposable tool used to create instability and then be discarded when no longer useful. They operate in both military and media propaganda spheres, often switching alliances based on instructions from handlers.

2. The Druze Factions – Historically used by the Zionist entity as border buffers. While not all Druze align with israel, key leaders have sold out for personal power and protection, especially fearing annihilation under a Wahhabi or Salafi takeover. israel supports these factions selectively to legitimize its deeper entry into Syria, under the guise of “protecting minorities.”

3. The SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) – An American project repackaged as a local resistance. Their goal in the south is not just aid but territorial expansion. The so-called humanitarian corridor toward Suwayda is a geopolitical maneuver meant to connect SDF areas with israeli operational corridors. This paves the way for future occupation and fragmentation.

4. Arab Bedouins – Many of these militias are either infiltrated by or directly working under HTS control. These tribal units are deployed as tools of provocation and chaos, instigating violence against Druze communities and triggering retaliatory massacres fueling a cycle of sectarian hatred that benefits external actors.

To conclude, this is a deliberately engineered war of attrition.

The situation in Syria especially in Suwayda, southern Damascus, and Idlib has escalated into a multilayered crisis. For those skipping hourly updates, here is a straightforward breakdown of the ongoing developments.

First, the Druze in Suwayda were attacked, reportedly by HTS-linked cells or provocateurs. In response, Druze factions mobilized and began resisting HTS presence in their areas.

Then, israel entered the conflict gradually. At first, its intervention was symbolic, but it quickly shifted to destructive aerial strikes against HTS positions. Netanyahu claimed this was to protect the Druze and to enforce a demilitarized zone from the Golan to the southern edge of Damascus.

HTS later announced a ceasefire and expressed willingness to negotiate, but key actors such as Hekmat al-Hijri and his factions were not part of that agreement.

Hekmat Hijri’s bloc refused the ceasefire and announced continued resistance, stating that HTS should withdraw completely.

A temporary morning ceasefire was observed. Some clarity returned to Suwayda, with local leaders trying to contain the violence.

Bedouin militias then launched attacks on Druze areas, accusing them of collaborating with HTS or Israel. In retaliation, Druze fighters carried out counterattacks. Massacres were committed on both sides.

HTS, operating from its breeding ground in Idlib, threatened further offensives toward Druze areas bordering southern Idlib and northern Suwayda.

Simultaneously, HTS has been regularly committing massacres and executions of Alawite and Shia civilians in areas like Jableh and Hama. These attacks continue with little to no international scrutiny.

HTS media and affiliated propaganda cells launched an information war, claiming that the visuals of slaughtered families in Suwayda were caused by Druze fighters. These claims appear fake or heavily doctored.

There are, however, verified cases where Druze fighters committed massacres of fleeing Bedouin families. These incidents need accountability and cannot be justified.

israel is benefiting from every side of this conflict.

It is in direct contact with certain Druze factions and has pushed IOF units to within 10 km of Damascus under the pretext of humanitarian concern or “protection.” These incursions have geopolitical motives.

SDF is quietly stretching its presence toward Suwayda. On the surface, it is offering humanitarian aid, but the long-term goal is clear to establish a corridor between the SDF-held areas and Suwayda. This route could eventually be used by Israeli forces under the guise of aid or security.

Julani delivered a heavily AI-manipulated speech posturing as anti-israel, in a fashion similar to Erdogan. However, the speech lacked any real substance. HTS is not winning the propaganda war. One reason is that Israeli Unit 8200 has withheld cyber and soft-power support, likely because Israel wants HTS to fully surrender and stay out of southern Syria.

Erdogan and MBS have spoken directly with Julani, trying to manage the situation in a way that benefits israel without destroying Turkey’s long-term plans for influence in Syria. But tensions between Turkey and israel over southern Syria remain unresolved.

Supporting HTS is unjustifiable under any pretext. Supporting Druze resistance may be acceptable partially but only those factions not aligned with israel. Unfortunately, the actual Druze leadership facilitating israeli entry are the ones selling out, and not necessarily reflective of the general Druze population.

israel is gaining from all directions. Its confirmed goal now is to build the long-envisioned David Corridor, by tying Suwayda to SDF territory and allowing IOF access up to southern Damascus. This is not happening because the Druze population wants it. It is because their corrupt or compromised leadership is allowing it. We must be cautious not to dehumanize Druze civilians and justify mass killings on the basis of their leaders’ betrayal.

israel has given HTS two options—either normalize and fully leave southern Syria, or prepare for elimination. Turkey does not want HTS to leave, as that would kill its vision of proxy dominance in Syria. If Julani insists on expanding to southern Syria, israel will likely eliminate him directly or by proxy.

This is the real picture. Individual narratives from either side may contain flaws or exaggerations, but the grand strategy is unmistakable. israel is engineering a regional corridor with SDF cooperation and sold-out Druze leadership. HTS is a disposable asset, and the deeper game is already underway. Whether today or tomorrow, the situation is growing more dangerous, and any simplistic reading will miss the full geopolitical manipulation unfolding on all sides.

The forty-one years that fighter Georges Abdallah spent in French prison cells constitute a definitive condemnation of the so-called state of law, justice, freedoms, and human rights protection in France. They expose the falsehood of its claimed integrity and neutrality.

The grave injustice inflicted upon the honorable resistance fighter Georges Abdallah, and his continued detention despite the expiration of his legal sentence, will remain a permanent stain on the record of the French judicial and political system. This legal and human violation reveals that the standards of democracy and freedom in France are conditional and selective. It has stripped France of any credible claim to justice and political decency. It exposes its blind subservience to the whims and dictates of Washington and Tel Aviv.

Hezbollah congratulates this resistance hero on the high honor he has carried through his steadfastness, unshakable resolve, and unwavering commitment to his principles. He has defended the truth and stood with the oppressed. These forces have previously prevented his release through fabricated accusations and deep-seated hostility toward all resistance fighters that Georges Abdallah represents.

ℹ️ | Georges Ibrahim Abdallah is a Lebanese Marxist-Leninist militant born in April 1951 in Al‑Qoubaiyat, northern Lebanon. He co-founded the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary Factions (LARF) in the late 1970s after earlier joining the PFLP.

Abdallah was arrested in 1984 in France, convicted in 1987, and sentenced to life in prison. He has spent more than four decades incarcerated, making him one of Europe’s longest-held political prisoners.
