🟡 Report | Interview of Mr. Wafiq Safa (H), the Head of the Communications and Coordination Unit in Hezbollah, in an interview with Al-Mayadeen, emphasized the continuation of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah’s path after his martyrdom and said: “Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah was an exceptional and beloved personality.” (1/2):

He, in a conversation with Al-Mayadeen in a program titled “Sayyid Ummah,” said: “I never imagined that one day we would talk about Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, the most sacred and noble martyr of the nation.

Safa said about the martyr Sayyid: “He was distinguished by many qualities, including kindness and humility, and he loved all people. He was very straightforward and transparent with the people.

Safa described Sayyid Nasrallah: “Sayyid has a secret, and it is clear that God’s love for him is evident. We felt that Sayyid was created by God for this party and this nation.

He continued: “The last personal contact with Sayyid Nasrallah was 10 days before his martyrdom, especially on the day of the explosion.

The head of Hezbollah’s Communications Unit pointed out: “He was the one who took the initiative, because at that time I didn’t have the courage to contact him, as I knew the state of his mental and emotional condition.

He added: “Sayyid was a hero in every sense of the word, but when it came to the Mujahideen, the world became the last thing for him.” He further mentioned: “Sayyid called late at night to check on the condition of my son due to injuries to his eyes and fingertips.

Safa noted: “The last practical contact was two days before his martyrdom to inform him of the situation, and I am still waiting for his response.

He told Al-Mayadeen: “Almost two months before Sayyid Hassan’s martyrdom, we had a meeting about the topic of the presidency, the relationship with the Free Patriotic Movement, and some issues related to the allies.

He continued: “There was ‘friendship’ between Sayyid Nasrallah and Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, despite the few meetings between them, and their viewpoints were aligned.

Regarding the presidency issue, Safa explained that Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah had no issues with General Joseph Aoun, the Army Commander, and had informed him about this before his martyrdom. He said: “We extended the term of the Army Commander twice, and our relationship with him was good, but our candidate for the presidency was Suleiman Frangieh.

Safa continued: “Suleiman Frangieh withdrew from the presidential race, and Hezbollah supported Joseph Aoun’s candidacy, considering him one of the most serious and likely candidates.

Safa revealed behind the scenes of the “Mar Mikhael Agreement” in 2006, stating that two committees were formed to consult on the points of the Mar Mikhael Agreement, and a group of titles were prepared, some of which were completed, but three points remained unresolved.

Regarding the resolution of the disputed issues in drafting this agreement, Safa said: “Nasrallah requested a meeting with General Michel Aoun before announcing the Mar Mikhael Agreement, and the agreement was reached after that.

Safa discussed Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah’s pivotal role in supporting the Palestinian cause, noting that Sayyid Nasrallah created groups of Palestinian leaders to develop political programs and initiatives aimed at strengthening the resistance.

He added: “After the liberation of 2000, the resistance first interacted with Palestinian groups, as Martyrs Imad Mughniyeh and Qassem Soleimani developed and strengthened these relations.

The head of Hezbollah’s Communications Unit explained that initially, Hezbollah, in addition to transferring expertise and weapons to Palestinian resistance groups during the start of the Intifada, provided training and technical assistance. This helped establish strong relations with Palestinian groups on security, military, and political levels.

(2/2):

Safa emphasized that Hezbollah and its leaders believe the day will come when they will reach Jerusalem and expressed their commitment to the Palestinian cause and their hope for the liberation of the city.

Safa talked about the prisoner exchange deals, stating: “The Israelis, in 2004, agreed to the conditions of the resistance for the release of prisoners of all nationalities and the bodies of martyrs, except for the prisoner Samir Kuntar. Sayyid participated in the release of prisoners despite the dangerous security situation on the day of the release and promised to free Kuntar in another operation, showing that this deal was a national one.

The head of the Communications and Coordination Unit mentioned: “Hezbollah’s survival and presence on the battlefield was, in itself, a great victory for the resistance. The reason for this is that Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah made Hezbollah part of the nation and the nation part of Hezbollah.

Safa pointed out that Hezbollah’s strength lies in its deep connection with the people, stating: “Sayyid Nasrallah emphasized using the term ‘Party of the People,’ as the resistance is not just a political party, but a collective people’s effort.

He added: “The U.S. government tried day and night, through several intermediaries, to meet with a Hezbollah official.

Safa said: “After Sayyid’s departure, Safiuddin was prepared to take his place, but quickly followed him. However, it was natural that after Safiuddin’s departure, this position was given to Sheikh Naeem Qassem.

He continued: “Sayyid always said that Hezbollah is not based on an individual. Hezbollah is an approach, a project, an organization, and a nation.

Safa said: “All the information we received about an assassination attempt on me during the war indicated that the Americans had made this request from the Israelis.

He added: “He was always eager to place the Lebanese flag next to Hezbollah’s flag and salute it, which was clearly evident in the Fajr al-Juroud operation, a joint operation with the Lebanese Army.

🇵🇸 Report | The Story of Imprisoned Leader Nael Barghouti:

Nael Barghouti is the longest-held Palestinian prisoner, having spent over 44 years behind bars.

Born in Kobar, Ramallah, on October 23, 1957, he was first arrested in 1978 at just 19 years old, receiving a life sentence plus 18 years. Despite various prisoner exchange deals, the occupation authorities refused to release him for 34 consecutive years.

On October 18, 2011, he was released as part of the “Faithful to the Free” prisoner exchange deal, which freed 1,027 prisoners, including his comrade Fakhri Barghouti. After his release, he married former prisoner Iman Nafeh.

However, on June 18, 2014, the occupation rearrested him, sentencing him to 30 months. After serving this term, his previous life sentence plus 18 years was reinstated under a “secret file”, along with dozens of other released prisoners from the same deal.

In 2018, Israeli forces executed his nephew Saleh Barghouti, arrested his brother Asim, and detained many family members. They also demolished two family homes as part of their collective punishment policy. A few months ago, his only sister, Hanan Barghouti, was arrested and placed under administrative detention.

In 2021, he endured another tragedy when his brother and comrade Omar Barghouti (Abu Asef) passed away. The occupation denied him the chance to bid farewell, just as they had when his parents passed away.

For over six years, his lawyer has been fighting against the reinstatement of his previous sentence, filing several appeals and petitions, but no decision has been issued. Notably, he has a court hearing this month at “Ofer” military court, scheduled ten months ago.
