❇️What is the IOF doctrine about Lebanon, and how is it happening now?

The Dahiya doctrine, also spelled Dahya doctrine, is an Israeli military strategy involving large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure, or “domicide,” to pressure hostile governments. This doctrine was outlined by former IOF Chief of General Staff Gadi Eizenkot. Israeli Colonel Gabi Siboni stated that Israel “should target economic interests and the centers of civilian power that support the organization.” The aim is to cause enough suffering among the civilian population that they turn against the militants, forcing the enemy to sue for peace.

Gadi Eizenkot elaborates:

“What happened in the Dahieh quarter of Beirut in 2006 will happen in every village from which shots are fired in the direction of Israel. We will wield disproportionate power and cause immense damage and destruction. From our perspective, these are military bases. […] This isn’t a suggestion. It’s a plan that has already been authorized. […] Every one of the Shiite villages is a military site, with headquarters, an intelligence center, and a communications center.”

In response, Hezbollah’s current leader has set forth the Haifa Doctrine, which includes a reciprocal strategy targeting Tel Aviv, Nahariya, Acre, and other locations. This response is designed with no mercy for military installations hiding among settler communities. However, as civilians are involved, Hezbollah issues warnings to settlers to leave targeted areas because they are "humans". The Haifa Doctrine, implemented by Hezbollah, also includes potential actions against top Israeli leaders as part of the broader response strategy.
