Critics have accused the university, now influenced by an RSS-linked Vice-Chancellor appointed by the Modi government, of allowing the ABVP (a Hindu student lobby linked to the RSS) to push anti-Islam and anti-Palestine narratives. This includes promoting anti-hijab rhetoric linked to Mahsa Amini protests and providing a platform for Israeli diplomats on campus.

Facing criticism, JNU has denied any external pressure. However, many see this as part of a broader effort to control narratives within India. Observers warn that India could face challenges in balancing its relations with Israel and Iran in the future.
