A "Saules Soleil Couchant" vase by Daum Nancy, ca.1908-1910.
An etched decoration of willow trees ("saules") and a setting sun ("soleil couchant")
Blown-molded vase in an ovoid shape with a small, narrow neck, the body of which is encircled by knotty tree trunks in high relief, green, enhanced with vitrifications. Between the trees, the landscape consists of acid-etched willows and foliage standing out against a barely translucent layer of yellow speckled with red. At the base, ochre oxidations simulate a rocky soil.
