βοΈ Sergey Lavrov: We did everything in our power to avoid a direct conflict. But they issued a challenge and we have accepted it. We are used to sanctions. We have been living under one or another form of sanctions for a long time now.
The surprising thing is a surge of rabid Russophobia in almost all βcivilisedβ countries. They have thrown to the wind their political correctness, propriety, rules, & legal norms.
The Americans started preparing the current crisis long ago, right after the end of the Cold War, having decided that the way to global hegemony was then open. NATO's eastward expansion has been one of the key components of such a course. We tried hard to convince them not to do this. We showed where and why our red lines are drawn. We were flexible, ready to make concessions & look for compromises. All this proved futile.

π€ On August 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey #Lavrov visited the Republic of the Union of #Myanmar where he was received by the Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister of the Provisional Government, Min Aung Hlaing. He also held talks with Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin.
Sergey Lavrov and Min Aung Hlaing had an in-depth discussion of the geopolitical situation that is emerging against the background of the unprecedented sanctions campaign unleashed by the collective West both against Russia and against Myanmar.
β The meetings in Nay Pyi Taw were held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, traditional for relations between the two countries, which in 2023 will mark 75 years since being established.

The unipolar global development model, which served the π° golden billion, for centuries fuelling its excessive consumption by relying on Asian, African, & Latin American resources, is π receding into the past.
π Today, with the emergence of sovereign states that are ready to stand up for their national interests, an equal, socially-minded and sustainable multipolar architecture is taking shape.
β However, Washington and the ruling elites in Western countries that have fully submitted themselves to this rule have been viewing these objective geopolitical processes as a threat to their dominance.
