Closest Populations to Northern Italians (using this set of populations)
Interesting Observations:
•Northern Italians are closer to Cretans then Southern Italians probably due to less natufian ancestry.
•Northern Italians are closer to Turks and Lebanese than to Ashkenazi Jews probably due to inbreeding and genetic isolation in the latter community.
•Northern Italians are closer to Armenians and Russians then Basque again probably due to lack of gene flow caused by mountain isolation in this case.
Next we will release a more detailed fst chart of populations only in their immediate region so we can now who is closest to them.

•Genetically closest to Lebanese Muslims, Cretans and Greeks.
•Not very close to Druze do to the Druze inbreeding.
•closer to Finnish then Samaritan’s due to the Samaritan’s inbreeding since the times of Babylon.
Admixture:
•Classical age model shows that they are almost the same as their Roman era counterparts with the added exception that they are more steppe drifted as shown by the 9.5 percent sarmatian in that model.
•This steppe drift is most likely caused by the Sassanid invasions, Turkic invasions, and the crusader/armenian occupation.
•Their Neolithic model shows them to be 36.0 percent ANF, 25.9 percent natufian, 15.2 percent Iran farmer, 12.4 percent CHG, 7.3 percent yamnaya and 3.2 percent WHG.
•Note their WHG is slightly more elevated then some of their neighbors indicating mixing with west European crusaders.
