COMMEMORATING ONE YEAR OF THE STRATEGIC AND ANTI-IMPERIALIST AL-AQSA FLOOD
The monopoly media has expressed the October 7th, Palestinian counteroffensive Operation al-Aqsa Flood as either a horrific act of barbarians or an unfortunate product of desperate people facing a desperate situation.
Against these apparently opposed claims, which in reality unite in defense of imperialism, we should study the facts. The following are objectives outlined in a statement by Ismail Haniyeh, the then chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, that was released on the day of the operation, and a contextualization of each point. These objectives make certain the significance of the operation as a strategic counteroffensive of the oppressed against imperialist aggression.
Haniyeh first stated the necessity to “liberate” al-Aqsa Mosque, the mosque located in occupied East Jerusalem that is considered the third holiest site in Islam. Palestinian worshipers had frequently been assaulted, arrested, and banned from the mosque by Israeli forces for decades, and these attacks had increased in brutality over the past few years with 170 worshipers injured in a single attack in 2021, and Israeli police raiding the mosque, beating worshipers with batons, using tear gas, and arresting over 400 worshipers during Ramadan in April 2023.
Second, Haniyeh’s statement indicated the necessity to resist the intensified colonization of the West Bank and Israeli aggression against the Palestinians there.
Third, the statement called for the release of the over 6,000 Palestinians who had been detained without charge in Israeli prisons.
Fourth, Haniyeh’s statement asserted the necessity to resist the ever-increasing Israeli aggression and humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by the Israeli blockade and exacerbated by the multiple imperialist wars that it had waged in Gaza. In Haniyeh’s words: "Gaza [...] has been under this blockade for almost 20 years, made worse by four or five wars that have seen tens of thousands martyred and wounded, and destroyed homes [amidst] this humanitarian crisis in a giant prison that locks up more than 2.2 million of our people and our families."
Fifth, the statement highlighted the 75-year-long violence that has been inflicted on Palestinians in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 (today called Israel), and the necessity to liberate this land.
Finally, the statement denounced the normalization of relations with Israel and highlighted the necessity of militancy in liberating Palestine. Haniyeh stated: "All the normalisation and recognition processes, all the agreements that have been signed [with Israel] can never put an end to this battle. It is the terrain that will put an end to this battle; it is these heroic fighters who will put an end to it; it is the blood of the pure martyrs and the heroic deeds of this people, its wounded and its prisoners that will put an end to it."

🇵🇸🇱🇧🇸🇾🇾🇪Updates from the Ground
🇵🇸Gaza
Earlier in the week, the Zionist entity continued its bombardment of Jabalia and Nuseirat refugee camps and residential buildings in Al-Saftawi, Beit Lahia, Deir el-Balah, Zeitoun, Khan Younis, Rafah, and other areas of Gaza, targeting homes, tents, and schools sheltering displaced people. For example, the entity martyred 9, injured several with a strike against Shujaiyya boys school in Al-Tuffah, which is sheltering displaced families, and martyred 25, mostly children, with a second strike later that also targeted the Al-Amal Institute for orphans in Al-Rimal, and a home in Al-Shuja'iya, Gaza City
A tank offensive martyred around 60 Palestinians in Khan Younis alone, and another 100 from Thursday to Friday with 169 injured across 8 massacres in Gaza
There are many martyrs to commemorate. For example, Um Musa Al-Samak, the director of Hamdiya Abu Medin Kindergarten, was martyred in a Zionist airstrike targeting her home in the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza on Friday
Early Friday morning, the Zionist entity committed multiple massacres ar Al-Nuseirat, Deir Al-Balah, and Beit Hanoon, martyring at least 12 and injuring dozens
Close to the eve of 1 year of the genocide on Saturday evening, the Zionist entity escalated its assault on Gaza, carrying out more than 50 airstrikes targeting homes, rescue teams, agricultural lands, and streets in eastern Jabalia and northwestern Beit Lahia. This followed active firing into Jabalia throughout the day. One of the most devastating incidents occurred near the Jabalia Services Club, where Zionist forces bombed a water truck and then attacked civilians who rushed to aid the driver, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The airstrikes also hit the Jabalia Services Club itself, which had been sheltering thousands of displaced Palestinians. Early reports state that at least 30 people have been martyred, 150 injured, and dozens trapped under rubble
24 Palestinians have been martyred and 93 injured after Zionist occupation warplanes struck Ibn Rushd School and a mosque housing displaced families near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, also on Saturday
🇱🇧🇸🇾Lebanon/Syria
Following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on 9/27, the Lebanese PFLP activist Mohammad Jawad Awada on 9/29, and the head of the Hamas contingent in Lebanon Fathi Sharif Abu Al-Amin and his family on 9/30, and their continued bombardment of Southern Lebanon (particularly the Bekka Valley but expanding for the first time since 1982 to Beirut, a city of 2.5 million people), the Zionist entity began strikes in Damascus on 9/30 and its ground invasion of Lebanon on 10/1--met with fierce fighting by Hezbollah forces
After absorbing heavy losses among its invading forces, the Zionist regime again shifted to bombing civilian areas, particularly in Beirut, including the use of internationally-banned white phosphorus. The entity is reserving the most ferocious, widespread destructiveness for the people of Dahieh. With bunker bombs and other US-supplied explosives, the entity claimed to target resistance leadership, instead completely razing residential buildings to the ground on Oct. 3 in the most brutal night of bombing since the escalations in Lebanon began
On Oct. 1, the Zionist entity carried out a strike against the Ein Al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Saida, Lebanon, martyring at least five residents of the camp in a failed assassination attempt of resistance fighters
On Oct. 4, the IOF bombed both sides of the Masnaa crossing between Lebanon and Syria. The crossing is regularly traversed by hundreds of thousands of people weekly, and most critically, is an economic lifeline for goods arriving into Lebanon
More than 200,000 Lebanese and Syrian nationals have already crossed the border into Syria fleeing the Israeli bombardment of Lebanon, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Over 1 million people are currently displaced in Lebanon. Lebanese health authorities say a year of Israeli attacks on the country has killed at least 2,083 people and wounded 9,869.
🇵🇸West Bank
Starting on 9/29, Zionist occupation forces have begun leveling land in the village of Sinjl, near Ramallah, to establish a separation wall that will encircle the area. They also began a new unauthorized outpost on the lands of Al-Khader, located south of Bethlehem, confiscated 57 dunums of land in Kafr Qaddum, and have continued raids into Nablus, Al-Bireh, Yatta, Qalqilya, Aqqaba, and other towns, including opening fire on Palestinian youth
On 10/1, 3 paramedics with the Palestinian Red Crescent were shot in their abulance east of Nablus, despite prior coordination with the International Red Cross
Settlers, backed by IOF soldiers, stormed into Al-Asqa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on 10/2, disrupting Muslim religious services, as IOF forces prevented Palestinian worshippers from entering, and did so again on 10/4
Thursday night, in its most escalatory and destructive airstrike on the West Bank since the genocide began, the IOF hit and leveled a large residential building in Tulkarem refugee camp. At least 21 martyrs have ascended, with many more injuries being transported for treatment to the neighboring hospital
🇾🇪Yemen
Due to Ansarallah's brave support of the resistance in Palestine, the Zionist entity has bombarded the port, airport, and power plant area of Hodeidah, causing a fire that spread to residential areas and martyring 6, injuring 57, and has continued strikes in the capital Sana’a

It’s been a long, heartbreaking year since the Al-Aqsa Flood, a year since Israel started this horrific barrage against Palestinians. A year of Palestinians' grief, bravery, and heart being broadcast around the world as they resist a Western-backed occupation by the Zionist genocidal entity, Israel. A year of shameful ignorance by the cowardly Columbia admin and while nothing may have changed for them, our conviction and determination to see a free Palestine has grown even stronger.
We have witnessed what has been one year in the 76 years of Nakba and Palestinian resistance, and the strength and humanity of Palestinians which traces back much further than the illegitimate apartheid state of Israel so we know that Palestine will continue to be victorious and it will never die.
Palestinians' strength pushes us to continue down this path of resistance, so we re-introduce our demands. We will not stop, we will not rest until not only are our listed demands met, but a free, liberated Palestine is realized.

Palestinian journalist Rasha Herzallah, arrested by Zionist occupation forces on 2 June, is awaiting trial in the occupation’s illegitimate “military courts,” allegedly for “incitement” -- that is, speaking out publicly or on social media about the occupation and the Palestinian cause.
Herzallah, 39, from Nablus, has had her detention repeatedly extended by occupation forces, and today, her trial was postponed once again, until 15 December 2024.
Her brother, the martyr Mohammed Herzallah "Abu Hamdi", was one of the leaders of the Lions’ Den. He was martyred on 23 November 2022 from the injuries he received on 24 July of that year, during the assassination of fellow Lions’ Den founders, the martyrs Mohammed al-Azizi and Aboud Suboh He was also a former Palestinian prisoner who spent one and a half years in Zionist prisons.
Rasha Herzallah is one of nearly 100 Palestinian journalists detained in occupation prisons and one of five women journalists held in Damon prison.
Bushra al-Tawil, from Al-Bireh, is a Palestinian journalist specializing in prisoners’ issues, who is currently held under administrative detention in Zionist jails. This is her seventh imprisonment by the occupation, after she was abducted again on 7 April 2024.
Rula Hassanein, from Bethlehem, is detained since 19 March. Mother of a 9-month-old daughter who is sick and still breastfeeding, she worked for several media including Al Jazeera, BNFSJ and Radio Nisaa (a Palestinian women's radio station). A decision in favor of her release had been announced several times, but was never applied.
Amal Shujaiya, a journalism student at Birzeit University, was arrested in early June during a raid by colonial forces.
Palestinian journalist Israa Lafi was arrested on 17 July, then ordered to administrative detention for a period of 6 months days later, on 26 July. In 2018 she had already been arrested and spent 10 months in colonial prisons, and has published several articles on the situation of Palestinian women prisoners.
Free Rasha Herzallah and end the war on Palestinian journalists!
