Mexico's Ministry of Defense announced on X that a military operation targeting the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the Tapalpa area resulted in the death of cartel leader Nemesio "Mencho" Oseguera.
According to the statement, troops came under attack and returned fire "in defense of their integrity," leaving four CJNG members dead at the incident area and three others critically wounded. The ministry stated that those three later died during a medevac transfer to Mexico City, including Mencho.
During this operation, military personnel were attacked, so in defense of their integrity they repelled the aggression, resulting in four members of the "CJNG" criminal group dead at the scene and three seriously injured, who lost their lives during their transfer via air to Mexico City; among the latter is Ruben "N" (a) Mencho, however, the corresponding authorities will handle the expert activities for their identification.

But when the great war was over, King Aragorn did not simply ride in and liberate the Shire or send an army - the liberation had to be done by the Hobbits themselves, led by two of them, Merry and Pippin, who had grown in stature through what they had been through in their time fighting the orcs.
It only takes a few to lead. When Kiwis realise they have been taken over and abused, perhaps they will show a fighting spirit that so far we have not seen. (mb)

The Royal Commission of Inquiry into CO(n)VID-19 Lessons Learned is now complete.
There has been no date set yet for the report's public release.
The big revelation, drum roll please, CO(n)VID-19 "impacted every one of us, and we all experienced it in our own individual ways." As if we needed an inquiry to tell us that!
Why does this report feel like a slap in the face to so many?
Why does it sound like the whitewash we predicted?
Trigger Warning: the final report (when it's finally released) and their update below is not reassuring for those of you who lost jobs, loved ones or ended up with vax injuries etc. We advise discretionary reading.
Here are the main points from their update:
This morning the Inquiry’s full suite of reports (from both Phase One and Phase Two) was submitted to the Governor-General, marking the end of the Inquiry’s work.
Over the last 15 months, they have had the privilege of speaking with, and gathering evidence from, a wide range of individuals, groups and organisations from across New Zealand and overseas.
This included former ministers and senior public servants, community and advocacy groups, businesses and subject-matter experts.
They considered more than 31,000 submissions from members of the public and organisations, and they heard first-hand of people’s experiences of living through the pandemic.
One thing that came through clearly over the course of this work was the fact that COVID-19 impacted every one of us, and we all experienced it in our own individual ways.
It is their hope that the findings from this Inquiry – combined with the passage of time – will allow us all to move forward together with more understanding, empathy and respect for different perspectives.
New Zealand, and the world, will face pandemics in the future – just as we have in the past. It is therefore vital that we learn from our past experiences and prepare for the future, to ensure our country and our people make it through future pandemics with our health, happiness, and livelihoods intact.
What happens now?
Now that they have provided their report to the Governor-General, it will soon be handed to the New Zealand Government.
The Government will release the report to the public on a date of their choosing.

In the UK, the two big ones were Mandelstam and Andrew. In the US, the Clintons have special relevance, and the fact that one of them is testifying is a major marking-point that can get the people ready for what is to come.
