On 27th August 1883, the world experienced one of the most powerful volcanic eruptions of all time (Krakatoa, Indonesia). I've heard many accounts saying the following summer of 1884 was a write off with the volcanic ash having blocked out sunshine with significantly lowered temperatures. However, I've found conflicting accounts which you can view below! ⬇️
