After forming BLFF in May 2021 and actively campaigning consistently since then it has come to the point where we have to ask for some financial support to keep going and remain productive.
I would like to add that I don't want anyone to donate anything that is not well within their means. Even £1 from enough people will suffice.

This guy wasnt arrested, he was just told to calm down. You have to do ALOT to get arrested by NYP as the photographs from tbe day show as York looked like it had been hit with a tactical nuke with the amount of flares we set off 😳😬🤦♂️🤯🤣

In terms of logistics this was a very difficult day.
I arrived at Victoria coach station at 8:20am after a 5 hour trip from Manchester with 400 light papers, banners and the frame to keep the gazebo stable. Two more team members, Katherine and Beverley arrived at Victoria at 9:30am and we had a car full of equipment due to arrive between 9:30 and 10:30am at Trafalgar square to set up a Gazebo there.
The plan was to drop the 400 papers I had off at Victoria train station luggage storage and then myself Beverley and Kath would head to Trafalgar square to help set up before we headed back to Victoria for around 11am with another 400 light papers from the 1100 coming in the car to start distributing while people were gathering and during the march as well.

Unfortunately the equipment didnt arrive until 11:20am which meant by the time we had set up the Gazebo and started to head back to Victoria leaving another two man team with the set up the march had already reached Whitehall. So instead we headed straight for Westminster, having to take the scenic route on foot carrying the 400 papers and 5k leaflets due to the fact the police had shut off access through Whitehall as there was a stand up to racism rally literally running back to back outside number 10.
The 400 papers flew out once we hit Westminster, so I then walked back to Victoria station to pick up the rest I had dropped off earlier leaving the girls to carry on with leaflet distribution. Thankfully I manage to get in contact with Nacho from Stand up X who met me on route. The sight of me coming out of Victoria station on a luggage cart with all the added literature with a safety siren sounding whilst on the phone to Nacho trying to locate his precise whereabouts while he was shouting on his megaphone and sounding his own siren to direct me to him was hilarious. What wasnt hilarious was the £45 charge myself and members of the team had to pay to liberate said literature due to me arriving back past the 3 hour allotted time limit.
Unable to carry tens of kilos of newspapers and leaflets, myself and Nacho got a black cab back as close to Westminster as we could and then carried them the rest of the way on foot with the help of kath and Bev who thankfully by that point were able to come and help with Logistics as Tracey had arrived and could stay at Westminster to guard the rest of our stuff.
The moral of this is numbers matter to the success of a mission.
Again once we got back to Westminster the paper's flew out. I knew we had lots more at Trafalgar but I couldnt get through to redistribute them which was extremely frustrating, especially as when we did finally arrive back at the Gazebo there were still about 600 papers left from 700 we had left there earlier in the day which WOULD have gone out if we had them at Westminster.
So again, like on the 27th of July I'm left reflecting on what was a successful day but knowing potentially it could have been so much more productive minus the various problems that always arise, some of which we can do nothing about as we dont have the benefit of hindsight. I'm also left reflecting on the plan i put in place without the benefit of knowing the full details of the days event and the decisions I could and should have made during the day as problems surfaced.
I'm.also left humbled by the commitment, passion and dedication the rest of my team, Katherine, Beverley, Wayne and Tracey showed. Especially Katherine, Beverley who went well above and beyond the call of duty to make the day a success despite the numerous challenges. I will admit that after more than four years in the trenches metaphorically sometimes I am absolutely spent mentally, so to have team members around me who keep going relentlessly also helps to keep me going at times.
I could not and cannot do much without these soldiers, lieutenants and generals around me.
It is not easy doing what we do as I always try to get the maximum result from the day. This often comes at great expense and brings a great deal of stress and it takes a person with a certain mentality, perhaps a selfless military mindset with real attrition to continue consistently in this team. I would add that they have to also be doing this for genuine reasons to keep pushing through days like this and to keep coming back for more. Those who are in it for themselves, the novelty, attention and the spotlight wont last and have not lasted.
Those who are delicate and precious wont last in a highly challenging driven and intense team environment where sometimes we clash with each other.
Katherine. Thank you for your, understanding, reliability, constant and consistent support over the last few months. You have absolutely kept me going to this point.
