Initially limited to the US, the Google Gemini app is now accessible to users in Germany, India, and potentially more countries. Despite initial geo-blocks, users outside the US managed to sideload the app but couldn't use it. Now, the wider rollout has begun, with users in Europe and parts of Asia gaining access, indicating a transition nearing completion.
Google Bard/Gemini lead Jack Krawczyk stated that support would expand to Asia-Pacific, Latin America, North America, and Africa. Geography-based restrictions were initially imposed only on the mobile app, while the web version of Bard/Gemini has long been available worldwide.

Indian government moves to ban ProtonMail after bomb threat.
A ProtonMail account was used to send threats to 13 schools in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu police, unable to trace the sender's IP address and failing to receive assistance from Interpol, requested India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to block access to ProtonMail within the country.
MeitY issued an order yesterday afternoon under Section 69A of the IT Act to block ProtonMail. While the final order hasn't reached the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), MeitY has alerted DoT about the issue. Proton acknowledged receiving notice from MeitY about a potential block. The DoT's enforcement will likely involve removing ProtonMail from the App Store and Play Store and blocking the service in the region. Currently, the website is operational, and the app remains listed on both storefronts.
