Flipboard begins transitioning its user accounts to ActivityPub, marking its journey towards becoming a Fediverse platform akin to Mastodon, Threads, Pixelfed, Firefish, and PeerTube. Users with a flipboard.com account will have the ability to follow and engage directly with individuals on Mastodon, Threads, and other ActivityPub apps from within the Flipboard app.

flipboard.com serves as a new instance in the Fediverse, hosting all federated Flipboard accounts. Additionally, the flipboard.social Mastodon instance will persist, allowing users to create new Mastodon accounts and utilize the native Mastodon UI on a fast, secure, and reliable server.
