We are Aryans, first and foremost. As humans, we make mistakes, but the pride in what we are and what our race has accomplished should never fade, nor dwindle.

The collapse of Celtic Central Europe: Burebista’s Empire. 🇷🇴🇦🇹🇭🇺🇨🇿🇸🇰🇷🇸

Prior to the year 60 B.C; Gauls had been the dominant power in Central Europe, particularly the Boii who lived in what’s now the Czech Republic and western Slovakia, and their allies, the Taurisci of eastern Austria. Between the two, they dominated all the surrounding peoples, Celtic, Germanic, Slavic, and Dacian. Celtic power in the region collapsed around 60 B.C; although it had probably been in decline for some time before.

The declining power of the Celts enabled the Dacians of Romania to form a powerful state: Under the leadership of king Burebista, the Dacians were united and surrounding peoples were either conquered and subdued, or brought into alliance, including Slavic nations such as the Bastarnae, and Sarmatians like the Roxolani. Among those who were forced into an alliance were the Celto-Thracian Scordisci of Serbia, who’d previously dominated much of the Balkans. With his enormous multi-ethnic hosts, Burebista was able to defeat the Boii and Taurisci in a brutal war ending in 60 or 59 B.C. The Boii had already been displaced to the area of northeast Austria, western Hungary and western Slovakia by invasions of Germanic and other Celtic peoples (such as the Volcae), and Burebista’s attack seems to have utterly devastated them. Their king, Critasiros, appears to have been killed, and huge numbers of refugees fled and ended up in Gaul fighting alongside the Helvetii against the legions of Julius Caesar. The Romans resettled them in a town named Gorgobina, within the territory of the Aedui.

Ironically, Burebista’s aggression would in the long run prove detrimental to the Dacians. Celtic peoples in the region were pushed into alliance with Rome, including the formerly hostile Scordisci. The inevitable clash between Rome and Dacia would result in the destruction of the latter, with Gallic auxiliaries playing a prominent role in the Roman victory.
