Today, Bybit, the second-largest cryptocurrency exchange, was hit by a massive security breach, losing around $1.4B in Ethereum. Hereβs everything you need to know:
Method of Attack: Bybitβs CEO, Ben Zhou, explained that hackers used a βmaskedβ phishing attack to trick the team into approving a malicious transaction. The attack disguised itself as a normal transaction using "Safe", a trusted wallet platform. Everything appeared legitimateβthe correct address and URL were shownβbut hidden code altered the walletβs smart contract. This gave the attackers full control, allowing them to drain Ethereum from Bybitβs cold wallet.
Compromised Assets Include:
β’ 401,347 $ETH worth $1.12B
β’ 90,376 $stETH worth $253.16M
β’ 15,000 $cmETH worth $44.13M
β’ 8,000 $mETH worth $23M
Assurance of Security: Despite the breach, Zhou reassured users that other cold wallets remain secure, and withdrawals are operating normally. He emphasized that Bybit is solvent and that all client assets are backed 1:1, meaning the company can cover the loss even if the stolen funds arenβt recovered.
Withdrawal Surge: Following the breach, Bybit experienced a surge in withdrawal requests. Zhou confirmed that the platform is processing these requests and has no plans to suspend withdrawals.
Market Impact: The breach had immediate repercussions on the crypto market, with the price of ETH dropping by over 3%, falling below $2,700.

Lion, known on Telegram as @lock (now deleted), has exit scammed what's estimated to be over $135,000+, across multiple deals.
The largest deal was a $135,000 fiat-to-crypto exchange, where the sender wired fiat expecting crypto in return. But once the funds were sent, Lion went completely silent. No crypto was delivered, and shortly after, his Telegram account vanished.
However, insider sources suggest this may not have gone the way Lion planned. It's believed the incoming $135,000 wire triggered a bank freeze, likely due to AML (Anti-Money Laundering) protocols. Unable to verify or provide documentation, Lion may have lost access to the funds entirely β effectively getting cucked by the bank.
Now, instead of owning up or resolving the issue, heβs chosen to disappear, leaving the victim hanging β and with no choice but to file federal wire fraud charges.
Even if this started as a deal gone wrong, it looks like Lion used the situation to scam others while he could. Multiple reports have surfaced over the past 48 hours.
