Microsoft has officially announced new ChatGPT-powered Bing. As you could expect, Microsoft Edge will also have AI-powered features via tighter integration with Bing.

In the new Bing, users will be able to type in queries up to 1,000 characters long and receive annotated AI-generated responses that appear next to regular search results. A new way to work with OpenAI called the "Prometheus" model improves relevancy, annotates answers, makes them more relevant, and more.

Microsoft Edge browser will have a new sidebar to quickly navigate to the Bing chatbot. It will allow you to ask the bot directly about the open page or document. It will be able to provide summary information about an open 15-page PDF file. This is called "chat" mode. Another feature, "compose", works like a writing assistant in Edge. It will help you to generate text from your emails, social media posts, based on a few starting prompts. More than that, it can read a code snippet you found on Stack Overflow, and then rewrite it for you using a different programming language. These features are already available in Microsoft Edge Dev 111.0.1660.6.

How to change the name of the carrier's network without root access?

Following the enabling of VoLTE and VoWiFi without root access, Kuba Wojciechowski discovered that the same way you can override the name of the carrier's network. What is needed for this?

1. Configure Shizuku
2. Download and install the 'Carrier Vanity Name' (GitHub) app by Kuba Wojciechowski.
3. Open the app and give permission to access Shizuku.
4. Enter the desired name and press 'Set'. To return the default title, press 'Reset'.

You can even use emoji as an inscription.

New Status Updates on WhatsApp

- Private Audience Selector
You can now choose who views your status each time you update it. Your most recent audience selection will be saved and used as the default for your next status.

- Voice Status
Now you can record and share voice messages up to 30 seconds on WhatsApp status. 

- Status Reactions
Status reactions are now added to provide a quick and easy way to respond to status updates. You can now quickly reply to any status by swiping up and tapping on one of eight emojis.

- Status Profile Rings for New Updates
This ring will be present around your contact’s profile picture whenever they share a status update. It will be visible in the chat lists, group participant lists, and contact 

- Link Previews on Status
Now when you post a link on your status, you’ll automatically see a visual preview of the link content, just like when you send a message.

These updates have started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.

Google launches Android 14 Developer Preview for Pixel

Google announced the Android 14 Developer Preview today. The February release was expected and matches last year, while it comes as 13 QPR2 is still in beta.

Google says “Android 14 builds on the work done in Android 12L and 13 to support tablets and foldable form factors.” 

A Grammatical Inflection API will let developers “more easily add support for users who speak languages which have grammatical gender.”

On the Customization front, end users “will be able to scale up their font to 200%,” which is up from 130% on Pixel devices today. 

To improve Privacy and Security, Android 14 will prevent apps with a targetSdkVersion lower than 23 Android 6.0 in 2015) from being installed. 

Lastly, on App compatibility, there’s OpenJDK 17 support (300 classes) and work to “fully enable Java 17 language features in upcoming developer previews.”

DP1 (UPP1.230113.009) with the February 2023 security patch is officially “for developers only and not intended for daily or consumer use.” It’s only available via manual download and flashing/sideloading today, with the public-facing Android Beta coming later in April.
