Modified WhatsApp App "YoWhatsApp" Caught Infecting Android Devices with Malware
An unofficial version of the popular WhatsApp messaging app called YoWhatsApp has been observed deploying an Android trojan known as Triada.
The goal of the malware is to steal the keys that "allow the use of a WhatsApp account without the app," Kaspersky said in a new report.
A successful theft of the keys can lead to a total compromise of the account, allowing the adversary to access chat messages and even impersonate the victim to send malspam and conduct financial fraud.

Android 13’s audio output switcher will soon show cast devices
With every release, Android adds new, useful ways to organize and manage notifications. Android 11, for example, added a dedicated space in the notification panel just for media playback notifications. These media playback notifications also got an output switcher button that users could tap to quickly change what device they want their media to play on. However, the only playback devices that could be listed in the output switcher included the current device and any paired Bluetooth devices, making it not very useful. That’s set to change thanks to the Android 13 update and a new version of the Google Cast SDK.

One UI 5 features: All the big additions to Samsung's Android 13 update
Samsung has confirmed that the stable version of One UI 5 will land on Galaxy S22 devices at the end of October, meaning we only have a couple of weeks to go. The company’s lengthy update commitment means that a ton of devices will get One UI 5 at some point though, so there’s no need to buy a Galaxy S22 series phone if you want the Android 13-based update.

Meta’s Instant Articles for Facebook will be going away
Meta will be ending support for its Instant Articles format in the Facebook app next year. The quick-loading article format was first launched in 2015, but Meta is moving away from it as part of a broader pullback from news-focused products. The company has told its media partners that in six months, Facebook will no longer support Instant Articles. After support ends, news links on Facebook will take a user to a publisher’s mobile site.

Google Fiber's sudden revival will include a dramatic boost to internet speeds. Google has revealed that it will offer 5Gbps and 8Gbps plans in early 2023 at respective monthly rates of $125 and $150. Both tiers will include symmetric upload and download rates, a WiFi 6 router and up to two mesh network extenders. The upgrades should help with massive file transfers while keeping lag and jittering to a bare minimum, according to the company.
