As of May this year, the Sims 4 progressively joins the list of video games needing parental scrutiny.
Your 12 year old is now given the option to select pronouns for their digital dolls house residents, and instead of creating characters as male or female, children are presented with a multitude of fact-skirting questions to establish whether their digital friends โcan become pregnantโ or โcan get others pregnantโ. To ease confusion thereโs an option to declare whether or not your Sim can โuse the toilet standingโ.
Old-fashioned man/ woman constructs are included in the game when it comes to romantic promiscuity. All Sims are defaulted to reflect a romantic interest in both male and female Sims, and theyโre open to โexploring romanticallyโ.
Trans characters are accommodated with the option to select โmasculineโ or โfeminineโ styles. Iโve added a pic of Daryl (can get others pregnant) in a feminine frame.

But it may also extend the limited choice that now exists in the duopoly of smartphone operating systems, with implications for later selling a vehicle, or switching to a different smartphone ecosystem. Imagine car listings that say โ60k miles, runs great, supports up to Apple CarOS v 3.1, sorry Android users, get an iPhone already!!โ
