XRPL suffered a massive DDOS attack.

Since December 26, 2023, hundreds of accounts have been making millions of transactions per day to stop the network or at least slow it down.

There has never been such a surge in activity in XRPL.

Since December 28, about 5,000,000 transactions have been made per day! DDOS attackers are burning 4000-5000 XRP each day in network fees.

Their strategy is simple: hundreds (maybe thousands) of different wallets are sending 0.000001 XRP to this wallet: rxRpSNb1VktvzBz8JF2oJC6qaww6RZ7Lw.

It is unclear what their motive is. Whether Ripple themselves are testing their blockchain or ill-wishers decided to bring down the network.

In any case, this negatively affects regular network users as well as blockchain development projects. Nodes start operating slower, and network fees increase by hundreds or even thousands of times! Moreover, these fees sometimes escalate not only for spammers but also for ordinary users.

Yesterday, Magnetic encountered issues due to this attack. The nodes became overloaded and significantly slowed down. As a result, some of our applications were unable to retrieve transaction history and subscribe to network transaction updates.
In the past 12 hours, we have been diligently working on optimizing the code, adjusting node configurations, and procuring additional resources. The problem has now been resolved.

But even though we managed to solve the problem, the DDoS attack continues and transactions are still ongoing. When will this end and who benefits from this?

Another interesting thought: currently, there are 60-70 transactions per second on the network (usually 20-25 transactions per second), and even with such activity, network users are experiencing problems. XRPL developers claim that the network can support 1500 transactions per second. If issues like these arise at 60-70 tx/s, what will happen at 1500 tx/s?

Magnetic Bridge has passed all tests and works without any failures.

We originally planned for the bridge to only work in one direction, XRPL -> XAHAU, but in the end we decided that it would work in both directions! That is, you will be able to transfer tokens both from XRPL to XAHAU, and from XAHAU to XRPL!

At the initial stage, only the following pairs will be available:
XRP->XAH
XAH->XRP

Then we will add XRPL and XAHAU tokens to the bridge.

Why did I choose to install nodes via Magnetic?
Although it is quite easy to figure it out there and I even launched several nodes on its own.

I will describe to you a little process so that you understand:
- First you need hosting, the server is not particularly expensive and you can run it even on a local PC

I do not advise you to do this, since those who rent a cluster from you can stuff you with viruses.

- Then you need a domain and a bunch of subdomains, but there are also nuances, while I tested a number of errors in the name because of which I wasted money and these domains can be forgotten.

BUT if you think this is the main problem, then here you are mistaken.
- The main step on the way to success is the stability of the XAHAU network, if at the time of transaction the network fails and the client disconnected, then it simply does not activate your node, what does this mean for you? This means that you will need to transfer another 500 EVER to activate the node.
I know at least a few such examples even from Magnetic, in which case they replenish the node at their own expense.
