U.S. AND JAPANESE SHIPS HOLD ANTI-SUBMARINE WARFARE DRILLS IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA
Japanese and U.S. fleets met this week for a first-ever anti-submarine warfare exercise in the South China Sea, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force said today.
Helicopter destroyer JS Kaga (DDH-184) and destroyer JS Murasame (DD101) with their embarked SH-60J helicopters, an unnamed Oyashio-class submarine and a P-1 Maritime Patrol aircraft conducted an anti-submarine warfare exercise in the South China Sea with U.S. Navy destroyer USS Milius (DDG-69) and a U.S. Navy P-8A maritime patrol aircraft on Tuesday. IS THE CRISIS ALONG BELARUS' BORDER A COORDINATED DISTRACTION?
There is strong evidence that authorities in Belarus, possibly with direct or indirect support from Russia, have deliberately weaponized groups of migrants coming from the Middle East. They were equipped with stun grenades by the Belarusian services which they threw at Polish soldiers and officers.
The EU has imposed new sanctions on Belarus in response to what it describes as a "hybrid attack." A deployment of NATO forces could happen if the situation continues to escalate.
The U.S. has alleged the Belarus / Poland crisis, may be a distraction from Russia's large-scale exercises in the Black Sea region. "We continue to see unusual military activity and concentration of forces near Ukrainian borders, and that remains concerning to us," Pentagon Press Sec. John Kirby said. "There's been no transparency from the Russian side about this..."
Neither transparency nor a de-escalation around Belarus or Ukraine appears to be forthcoming. [ Article ]

CCP CONCENTRATION CAMP SURVIVOR TELLS HER STORY
Mihrigul Tursun, a Uyghur Muslim woman who became an activist after multiple stays at a CCP concentration camp, told the harrowing details of her torture before escaping to the U.S.
“I was in Egypt studying in a British University, then I birthed triplets, 2 boys and 1 girl... I wanted to go back to home because I need my parents to help me.” They took her to prison and for 3 days & nights, they questioned her nonstop. "I cannot sleep, I get tortured — electric, in my head,” she said. “They shear[ed] my hair, give me electric torture, and give me to take some medicine that led me to answer.” The beatings and torture were so severe that Tursun lost hearing in her right ear.
Agents later told her that they would not execute her if she spied for the regime abroad. The alternative to spying, was death. A firing squad execution, would have cost her 600 yuan ($94) per bullet if she chose it. [ Article ]

VANCOUVER IS COMPLETELY CUT OFF FROM THE REST OF CANADA BY ROAD.
The routes from the U.S. is impassable as well because I-5 is closed due to a landslide. Though unlike in Canada, the roads aren't destroyed, so the U.S. routes will reopen comparatively soon.
If you go south of the border and across...You'd need a covid test though. [ Source ]

ESTES FIRE PLANE CRASH
For the first time ever, firefighters used a fixed-wing aircraft to fight a fire at night. The plane took off loaded with fire suppressant. The goal was to fly all night to fight the wildfire in Estes Park. Unfortunately, according to scanners, it seems the plane may have crashed. No word on injuries yet. [ Source | Scanner ]
You can see the last flight playback here, looks like potentially stopped transmitting somewhere around the Homestead Meadows Trailhead. Eyewitness report was that the aircraft “rolled”.
UPDATE: Larimer County Sheriffs confirm that there's a call out for anyone in the area who is qualified to look for the firefighting plane which crashed this evening. The plane went down in the firefighting zone. [ Source ]

MONKEYPOX VIRUS CONFIRMED IN MARYLAND RESIDENT TODAY
A single case of monkeypox virus infection was confirmed in a Maryland resident, officials said Tuesday. The resident recently returned from Nigeria and is experiencing mild symptoms. The individual is currently recovering in isolation and was not hospitalized. [ Source ]
Note 1: Fort Detrick is also in Maryland and historically was the center of the U.S. biological weapons program. The base has hosted most elements of the U.S. biological defense program. However in August 2019, its deadly germ research operations were abruptly shut down following serious safety violations, in particular relating to the disposal of dangerous materials. [ Source ]
Note 2: As of Sept 24, 2019, the FDA approved Jynneos, Smallpox and Monkeypox Vaccine. This is the only currently approved monkeypox vaccine for the prevention of Monkeypox disease. [ Source ]
