BOFA WARNS BOND PLAN FAILURE COULD HIT RISK ASSETS

BofA strategist Michael Hartnett warns risk assets could face selling pressure if the U.S. Treasury fails to push 30-year yields below 5%.

He sees potential weakness in the dollar and increased short bets against AI hyperscalers, private credit and financial stocks.

The warning comes as 30-year yields hover around 5.2% despite Treasury intervention, while rising government debt keeps bond markets under pressure.

TRUMPโ€™S IRAN CRACKDOWN RISKS CHINA BACKLASH

Washington is preparing tougher measures to isolate Iran economically, targeting countries that continue trading with Tehran.

China poses the biggest challenge, buying around 90% of Iranโ€™s oil exports.

Targeting major Chinese banks or companies could disrupt Iranโ€™s key revenue source, but risks retaliation from Beijing and renewed U.S.-China tensions ahead of President Xi Jinpingโ€™s Washington visit.

Analysts also question whether tougher sanctions can significantly pressure Iran after decades of economic restrictions.

WARSH COULD OFFER MARKETS SOME RELIEF AT JACKSON HOLE

Fed Chair Kevin Warsh could provide investors with modest reassurance at next weekโ€™s Jackson Hole symposium, according to TD Securities.

Markets will look for clearer signals on his policy approach and a reaffirmation of the Fedโ€™s commitment to fighting inflation.

However, disappointment remains possible if Warsh continues to avoid forward guidance.

TD expects his remarks to signal gradual change rather than a major policy shift.

CITI SAYS BUY ANY PRE-MIDTERM MARKET DIP

Citi remains Overweight equities and recommends adding exposure if markets pull back ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.

The bank sees supportive earnings revisions, improving liquidity conditions and limited warning signs despite recent AI-related concerns.

Citi continues to favor U.S. stocks and believes sector rotation could limit downside.

Historically, pre-midterm weakness has often been followed by strong year-end performance, making any dip a potential buying opportunity.

UBS SEES S&P 500 BULL RUN EXTENDING

UBS raised its S&P 500 targets to 8,100 for December 2026 and 8,400 for June 2027, citing stronger earnings and resilient growth.

The bank now expects EPS of $350 in 2026 and $400 in 2027, driven by strength in technology, semiconductors and energy.

UBS remains bullish on resilient economic growth, a patient Fed and accelerating AI adoption.

Key risks include higher oil prices, renewed inflation and disappointing AI returns.

JPMORGAN WARNS OF AUTUMN SELLOFF AS AI ECHOES 2000

JPMorgan sees growing risks of a late-summer or early-autumn market downturn despite major indexes remaining in bullish trends.

The bank points to weakening market internals, defensive rotation and fading conviction in AI stocks.

Strategist Jason Hunter sees similarities between todayโ€™s AI trade and the 1999-2000 tech boom, raising concerns about crowded technology exposure.

Rising Treasury yields, Middle East tensions and softer consumer spending add to the risks.
