In my area I know that Ponderosa is *not* good to use. I think perhaps also Lodge Pole and some others are not good to use, but they aren’t around here so I did not pay close attention to what was not local.

Eastern White Pine and Scotch Pine can both be used afaik. Scotch Pine makes an especially tasty tea IMO.

Douglas Fir is neither a true fir nor a pine, but is prevalent in my area and was used by local Indian people and was a vitamin C source afaik.
