1,300 Southwest Airlines Pilots Protest Inadequate Pay, Long Hours at Texas Airport

"More than 1,300 Southwest Airlines pilots picketed at a Dallas airport Tuesday — saying that they’re overworked and understaffed by the airline company.

The protest was held at Dallas Love Field as Southwest Airlines and the pilots’ union, Southwest Airlines Pilots Association, have been in the process of negotiating a new contract for two years.

The pilots held up signs that said things like 'Our passengers and pilots deserve better' and 'Summer of Luv: delayed, rescheduled, cancelled,' in reference to an uptick in flight cancellations as the summer travel season ramps up.

Grocery Chain Publix Won’t Offer COVID-19 Vaccine to Children Under 5

🇺🇸💉@COVID19Up: Since COVID-19 vaccines became available, Publix has played a major role in Florida by offering injections to adults and children as young as 5.

But the Lakeland grocery company says it will not offer the vaccine approved for children ages 4 and under “at this time.”

Spokesperson Hannah Herring said Tuesday (June 21) that Publix will not release a statement explaining its decision. The company’s website indicates that it is still accepting COVID-19 vaccine appointments for children ages 5 and up.

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo recommended against giving vaccines to healthy children, contrary to CDC guidelines. Florida was the only state in the nation not to preorder doses of the under 5 vaccine.
