🇻🇪 High Commissioner presented his report on the situation of human rights in Venezuela

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, pointed out at the 53rd session of the Human Rights Council that in Venezuela there have been long delays in the investigation of deaths in protests.

He indicated that of the 101 documented deaths in the context of security operations, only 8 have been prosecuted.

Likewise, he called for the release of all those who have been arbitrarily detained in the country and expressed concern about the case of activist Javier Tarazona, detained for 2 years and who is in poor health.

Also, Türk urged that the upcoming electoral processes be transparent, inclusive and participatory, and that obstacles to free participation in political life and criminalization cease.

🗣 The head of the PGE, Daniel Soria, requested that "the real precautionary measures of embargo be issued in the form of registration and inhibition" both of Castillo's assets, and of the former president of the Council of Ministers Aníbal Torres.

Soria became the leader before the Preparatory Investigation Court of the Supreme Court of Justice in the inquiry into what happened on December 7, 2022, when Castillo tried to dissolve Congress, among other controversial actions.
