🇺🇸🇻🇪 Department of State: "We want Maduro to be brought to justice"

In the midst of a U.S. military operation in the Caribbean, the Department of State labeled Nicolás Maduro as a "fugitive" from U.S. justice and warned about the danger he represents to the region.

"Maduro is not the legitimate leader of Venezuela, he is a fugitive from U.S. justice who undermines regional security and poisons Americans," said the Deputy Spokesperson of the Department of State, Tommy Pigott, in a conversation with NTN24.

He added: "We want him to be brought to justice. The United States is carrying out a specific operation against drug cartels."

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that after attacking several Venezuelan drug boats in the Caribbean, his country will now "very seriously" monitor drugs entering by land, amid escalating tensions with Caracas, which he accuses of leading a drug trafficking network.
