After a strong tremor that started on the Eastern Coast and ended in several states of Venezuela, at least two aftershocks were reported in Ciudad Ojeda, Bachaquero, and Mene Grande (Zulia).
The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported the earthquake mainly as 8.0 at 17:21 (Colombian time), while Inameh at 17:50 stated it was magnitude 6.2.
The earthquake was located 26 kilometers southeast of Bachaquero and 49 kilometers southeast of Lagunillas.
