"President, I hope that together we can defeat the falsehoods that have sullied our relationship, which must be historic and peaceful," Maduro wrote in the letter. "These and other issues will always be open for a direct and frank conversation with your special envoy (Richard Grenell) to overcome media noise and fake news."

⚠️🇬🇧🇻🇪 Alejandro Betancourt, "bolichico" linked to corruption scheme, released on bail
Venezuelan businessman Alejandro Betancourt López, known as one of the "bolichicos," was released on bail. He was arrested on Thursday, September 18, in London, United Kingdom, at the request of the Central Court of Instruction No. 5 of the National Court of Spain.
"Leopoldo Alejandro Betancourt López, known as the 'BOLICHICO,' was arrested in London by order of a Spanish court and released on bail. His fortune was amassed at a very young age through Derwick Associates, securing 12 power plant contracts in less than 14 months, despite having no background in civil works," reported the NGO Transparencia Venezuela on its official account on the social network X.
The NGO detailed that the impunity of the "bolichico" Betancourt López "lasted for years: Case in Venezuela closed in 2015 due to 'lack of evidence,' and lawsuits in the U.S. dismissed on technicalities. The irony is complete: He was not charged in Venezuela and in April 2024 obtained an 'open letter' from PDVSA to market crude oil. Now, Spain arrests him over luxury properties."
