María Corina Machado warned Nicolás Maduro that his situation will be "better" if he negotiates before January 10.

The opposition leader insisted that holding on to her post and being sworn in for a new term “ will further complicate the situation .”

Machado stressed that the negotiations "must focus on regime change and a transition to democracy in Venezuela."

He said that Maduro has little support in the security forces and that many close to the regime " know that time for negotiations is running out ."

"The later the negotiation takes, the worse it will be for them. The incentives are there to accept the irreversibility of political change," he concluded.
