The conflict between Colombia and Venezuela over the privatization of Monómeros continues with the resignation of Rodrigo Ramírez, director of the company that is a key subsidiary of the Venezuelan state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela SA (Pdvsa) based in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Ramírez, through the social network X, expressed his disagreement with the privatization promoted by the Venezuelan government and announced the withdrawal of Colombia from the company's board of directors.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has expressed his opposition to the sale of the company. In a recent letter to Nicolás Maduro, the president expressed his “respectful and attentive opposition” to the decision of Venezuela’s Minister of Industry and National Production, Alex Saab, to move forward with the sale of Monómeros.

Petro stressed that the company is crucial for food security in both countries, as it ensures the production of agricultural inputs such as urea, vital for land productivity in Colombia and Venezuela.

Former governor of Táchira state, César Pérez Vivas, reported on Monday night that journalist Ana Carolina Guaita, detained since August, was released from a hearing in which she was ordered to be deprived of her liberty and was charged with several crimes.

"She was brought to trial and deprived of her liberty on charges of inciting hatred, terrorism and obstructing public roads," Pérez Vivas explained.

Guaita, who is a journalist for the digital media La Patilla and daughter of political leaders of Copei, was arrested around 6:00 pm in the El Rincón urbanization, in the Maiquetía area, as confirmed by several relatives to the SNTP.
