💬 Amid the uncertainties surrounding the election results in Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro, who claims to have been re-elected, mentioned that he is in constant contact with the special advisor on foreign affairs to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), former Foreign Minister Celso Amorim.

“I spoke with Lula 15 days ago. But I am in regular contact with Celso Amorim and with Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira,” Maduro said during an interview at Miraflores Palace, the seat of the Venezuelan government.

✔️ In addition, Maduro expressed gratitude for the joint statement issued by the governments of Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. The three countries did not recognize anyone’s victory and called for an “impartial verification” of the votes.

“Presidents Lula, Petro, and Obrador are working together to ensure that Venezuela is respected. So that the United States doesn’t do what it’s doing. They issued a very good communiqué, very good. I congratulate Presidents Petro, López Obrador, and Lula. Thank you very much, on behalf of all of Venezuela.”

"Just like the governments of Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, and the United States, the 27 undersigned senators have decided to formally recognize Edmundo González Urrutia as the new president-elect of Venezuela. This recognition underscores the importance of respecting the popular will and strengthening democratic institutions in our region.

The evidence of his victory is overwhelming, as demonstrated by the records that the world has had access to. It is crucial to respect the democratic will of the Venezuelan people, who decided through the ballot box to end Nicolás Maduro's dictatorship.
