A landmark ruling by the UK Supreme Court could trigger multiple legal challenges by men convicted of sexual offences in Scotland.

Five judges have ruled that Scotland's courts have taken an approach to evidence which risks depriving a defendant of their right to a fair trial.

Jon Venables is reportedly too scared to attend a parole hearing if the murdered toddler's family is present. Venables is expected to make his latest bid for parole next month, eight years after he was last recalled to prison.

The child murderer is said to be petrified of seeing James' parents, Denis Fergus and Ralph Bulger, who have won the right to attend the parole hearing and give their impact statements.

Concerns were raised by the NHS about the device in 2018. Of the patients who were subsequently fitted with the mechanical pump, half went on to die within three years.

Ukraine's energy and justice ministers have resigned in the wake of a major investigation into corruption in the country's energy sector.

On Monday anti-corruption bodies accused several people of orchestrating a embezzlement scheme in the energy sector worth about $100m (£76m), including at the national nuclear operator Enerhoatom.

The allegation is that Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and other key ministers and officials received payments from contractors building fortifications against Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

Among those alleged to be involved are former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov and Timur Mindich - a businessman and a co-owner of Zelensky's former TV studio Kvartal95. He has since reportedly fled the country.
