A 33-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering his new teenage partner's baby son after playing a video game "throughout" the night.

Jurors convicted unemployed Kieran Humphreys of the murder of six-month-old Archie Woodbridge, in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, on 9 February 2024.

Prosecutors said Archie had been "gripped and shaken" by Humphreys and the judge described the case as "difficult and tragic".

A jury at Luton Crown Court heard how Archie's mother, Saskia Woodbridge, who was 19 and lived in nearby Leighton Buzzard, had begun a relationship with Humphreys after meeting him in a shop about a week before her son was killed.

Jurors heard Ms Woodbridge, now 20, had left Archie alone with the killer while she went to a nail salon.

A PRISONER has pleaded not guilty to murdering paedo Lostprophets star Ian Watkins in a jail attack.

A woman and a teenage girl have been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child.

Humberside Police said they were called by paramedics to a property on Searby Road in Scunthorpe at about 09:00 GMT on Monday 10 November, where a six-year-old boy was suffering a medical episode.

The child was taken to hospital but died a short while later. The 38-year-old woman and 17-year-old girl both remain in custody assisting officers with inquiries, the force said.

Five judges have ruled that Scotland's courts have taken an approach to evidence which risks depriving a defendant of their right to a fair trial.

Leading cardiologists at both hospitals were paid consultants for the device's manufacturer. The hospitals were aware of this.

Concerns were raised by the NHS about the device in 2018. Of the patients who were subsequently fitted with the mechanical pump, half went on to die within three years.
