During protests in Los Angeles, a police officer shot a reporter from Australia with a rubber bullet
Australian 9News journalist Lauren Tomasi was reporting from the streets of Los Angeles when one of the police officers pointed a gun at her and fired a rubber bullet. It is specified that the incident occurred the day before, on June 8.
The film crew promptly left the scene after shooting the journalist. The very next day, Lauren Tomasi returned to the air and said that everything was fine with her.
In Los Angeles, protests against the migration policy of Donald Trump continue for the third day. The reason for the protests was the raids of the ICE immigration service, during which more than 100 people were detained.

The Supreme Court handed the Trump administration two victories Friday in cases involving the Department of Government Efficiency, including giving it access to Social Security systems containing personal data on millions of Americans.
The justices also separately reined in orders seeking transparency at DOGE, the team once led by billionaire Elon Musk.
The courtโs conservative majority sided with the Trump administration in the first Supreme Court appeals involving DOGE. The three liberal justices dissented in both cases.
The DOGE victories come amid a messy breakup between the president and the worldโs richest man that started shortly after Muskโs departure from the White House and has included threats to cut government contracts and a call for the president to be impeached. The future of DOGEโs work isnโt clear without Musk at the helm, but both men have previously said that it will continue its efforts.
In one case, the high court halted an order from a judge in Maryland that has restricted the teamโs access to the Social Security Administration under federal privacy laws.

Gavin Newsom, the Democratic Governor of California, has again suggested heโll sue President Donald Trump for calling the National Guard into the state.
He first suggested heโd sue the president yesterday, when he said the state would file a lawsuit Monday against what he described as an โillegal, immoral and unconstitutionalโ deployment of the National Guard.
This morning in a post on social media, the governor said Trump โflamed the fires and illegally acted to federalize the National Guard,โ when he signed a presidential memorandum on Saturday activating the officers.

A new poll shows that President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen after his public feud with Elon Musk over the spending bill he is trying to push through Congress.
Trump's approval rating is now at 47 percent, according to the latest Daily Mail tracking poll conducted with J.L. Partners.
It is down three points from May when Trump was at 50 percent approval.
In the latest poll 53 percent said they disapprove of the president's job performance.
The poll included 1,006 registered voters questioned on June 6, and had a 3.1 percent margin of error.
Musk is also now less popular with all Americans as 56 percent have an unfavorable view of the eccentric billionaire.
Just 34 percent of those polled view Musk favorably with 10 percent undecided.
Despite Trump's ugly blowup last week with Musk, a plurality of Americans remain supportive of the president over the founder of Tesla.
The poll found 31 percent say they support Trump while just 23 percent side with Musk in the feud, and 46 percent were unsure.
The majority of Republicans, 59 percent, side with Trump, while just 12 percent side with Musk. Twenty-eight percent of Republicans remain unsure.
Twenty-six percent of unaffiliated Americans also support Trump, with 20 percent siding with Musk.
A plurality of Democrats now side with Musk, with 35 percent now backing him rather than just ten percent who support Trump.
The majority of Democrats and unaffiliated Americans, each at 54 percent, are also uncertain about who to side with, suggesting room for each figure to grow their support.
Despite Musk's threat on Thursday to create a new political third-party, there is still minimal support among American voters for the idea.
Just four percent of voters signal support for a Musk party while 42 percent support a Democratic candidate and 35 percent support Republicans.
After hardcore Trump supporters publicly called for Musk to get deported, just 30 percent of Americans support the idea while 35 percent of opposed.

๐บ๐ธ The White House is looking for a new chief of staff and several senior advisers to support Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after a series of missteps that have shaken confidence in his leadership, but it has so far found no suitable takers, according to four current and former administration officials and a Republican congressional aide.
๐ Top Defense Department jobs, including the defense secretaryโs chief of staff, are normally considered prestigious and typically attract multiple qualified candidates. But at least three people have already turned down potential roles under Hegseth, according to a former U.S. official, the defense official and a person familiar with the matter.
๐ค Vice President JD Vance and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles have taken an active interest in finding ways to help Hegseth after he abruptly suspended two handpicked senior aides in April, accusing them of leaking classified information in a Fox News interview. ๐บ Soon afterward, Hegseth announced the removal of his chief of staff on Fox News and a senior press aide resigned, writing later that Hegsethโs office was in โtotal chaos.โ โ ๏ธ
๐ Vance and Wiles have been searching for candidates who could support Hegseth ever since, according to three current U.S. officials and a former U.S. official. So far, though, the administration has not had much luck identifying people who are either willing to work for Hegseth or who fit the bill politically. And the White House has rejected some people Hegseth wants to hire, while Hegseth has rejected some of the White Houseโs candidates.

๐บ๐ธ Protests against Trump's immigration policy, which began in Los Angeles, spread to other US cities
๐ข Protests in the United States against the deportation policy pursued by President Donald Trump continue to gain momentum. After the clashes in Los Angeles, actions were held in other cities of the country.
๐ In San Francisco, according to local police, thousands of people took to the streets. The protests were mostly peaceful, but in the evening there were minor incidents.
๐ In New York, several dozen people staged a rally in the lobby of Trump Tower, chanting "Bring them back", referring to the deported migrants.
๐บ According to U.S. media reports, protests were also held in Santa Ana (California), Austin and Dallas (Texas), Atlanta (Georgia), and Louisville (Kentucky). In some cities, there were clashes with police and arrests. ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐
โ ๏ธ Against the background of the worsening situation, the White House is increasing pressure on the protesters. After sending National Guard reservists to Los Angeles, the authorities decided to send about 700 Marines there as well.
๐ก Officially, this is explained by the need to protect federal facilities and migration service employees amid "growing threats."
๐ช The United States Marine Corps is considered an elite unit of the military. Its members are trained for foreign operations, amphibious missions, and the protection of U.S. military installations around the world.

The military has activated about 700 active-duty Marines who could be sent to Los Angeles, joining National Guard troops who were sent to the city to respond to protests, the U.S. Northern Command said in a statement.
Members of the Marine Corps could start arriving in the Los Angeles area as soon as Tuesday, a defense official told CBS News. The Marines are based in Twentynine Palms, a city east of Los Angeles.
Northern Command said the Marines will "seamlessly integrate" with hundreds of members of the National Guard to protect "federal personnel and federal property." They have been trained in "de-escalation, crowd control and standing rules for the use of force," the military added.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said Monday that around 700 Marines "are being deployed to Los Angeles to restore order."
California Gov. Gavin Newsom suggested late Monday he could take legal action over the planned use of Marines, calling it illegal.

U.S. Secretary of Health Robert Kennedy Jr., known for his skepticism of vaccines, fired all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which issues official government recommendations on vaccinations. The Minister accused the dismissed employees of numerous conflicts of interest.
Kennedy said this in an article written for the Wall Street Journal, explaining the decision by saying that the conflict of interest in the committee undermines the credibility of vaccination. According to the minister, he wants to " provide the American people with the safest vaccines."
On Monday, he said he was "resigning" all members of the ACIP committee. Most of them are practitioners and experts associated with major university medical centers.
Eight of the 17 committee members were appointed in January 2025, in the final days of Biden's term, and Kennedy said that if he had not fired them, President Trump would not have been able to appoint a majority of new members until 2028.

Axios: Trump is closer than ever to applying the law on insurrection
Trump is closer than ever to enacting the Insurrection Act, driven by a desire for power not limited to governors, generals, and other constraints that held him back in 2020.
It is noted that Trump has already violated the long-standing practice of sending the National Guard to California for the first time since 1965 without the consent of local authorities.
According to the portal, Trump "openly broadcasts his readiness, and even zeal, to apply the law." He has already publicly called the protesters rioters.
The Rebellion Act of 1807 grants the President the right to use the armed forces inside in special situations, such as the suppression of anti-Government protests, riots and uprisings.
