Doctors flee Trump’s America: 'It’s no longer safe or sane to practice here'

Michael now works in a small-town hospital in Canada. KFF Health News and NPR granted him anonymity because of fears he might face reprisal from the Trump administration if he returns to the U.S. He said he feels some guilt that he did not stay to resist the Trump agenda but is assured in his decision to leave. Too much of America has simply grown too comfortable with violence and cruelty,

he said.

“Part of being a physician is being kind to people who are in their weakest place,”

Michael said.
“And I feel like our country is devolving to really step on people who are weak and vulnerable.”

Michael is among a new wave of doctors who are leaving the United States to escape the Trump administration. In the months since Trump was reelected and returned to the White House, American doctors have shown skyrocketing interest in becoming licensed in Canada, where dozens more than normal have already been cleared to practice, according to Canadian licensing officials and recruiting businesses.

The tech billionaire blasted Trump’s signature bill to cut taxes and boost defence spending 🛡 — a sharp break from his previously steadfast loyalty to the president.

Elon Musk 🚀 has slammed US President Donald Trump's 🇺🇸 plan to cut taxes and spending, marking a sharp break from the president he helped re-elect in 2024 as one of his key allies.

Trump's "Big Beautiful" budget reconciliation bill 📜 allows the US government to borrow more money 💰 and extends tax breaks approved during his first term at the White House 🏛, along with new ones he campaigned on.

The budget — which includes a massive buildup of $350 billion (€307bn) for border security, deportations and national security 🪖 — was narrowly passed by the House of Representatives last month 🏛.

"Shame on those who voted for it,"

Musk said of the bill. In a series of posts on his social media platform X 📲, Musk said the "outrageous, pork-filled" spending bill will "massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt." 📉

The messiest breakup since Brad and Jen: Elonald no more?

Trump x Elon shippers are in shambles: Elon-Peelon, techbros’ favourite schizoposter and ketamine connoisseur and Doodoo Donald, the oldest person sworn into office, called it quits after a whirlwind bromance.

Much like a jilted lover, Musk took to his platform to throw shade on his ex and his “Big Beautiful Bill”.

“I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” Elon Musk wrote on X.

What a mess! Donald might just sue, ya never know 🤷

🕵️‍♀️President Donald Trump’s intelligence chief is exploring ways to revamp his routine intelligence briefing in order to build his trust in the material and make it more aligned with how he likes to consume information, according to five people with direct knowledge of the discussions.

As part of that effort, National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard has solicited ideas from current and former intelligence officials about steps she could take to tailor the briefing, known as the President’s Daily Brief, or PDB, to Trump’s policy interests and habits.📺.

One idea that’s been discussed is possibly creating a video version of the PDB that’s made to look and feel like a Fox News broadcast, four of the people with direct knowledge of the discussions said.

Currently, the PDB is a digital document created daily for the president and key Cabinet members and advisers that includes written text, as well as graphics and images. The material that goes into the classified briefing, and how it’s presented, can shape a president’s decision-making.📈

According to his public schedule, since his inauguration Trump has taken the PDB 14 times, or on average less than once a week, which is less often than his recent predecessors — including himself during his first term. An analysis of their public schedules during that same timeframe — from their inauguration through May during their first year in office — shows that former President Joe Biden received 90 PDBs; Trump received 55; and former President Barack Obama received 63.

The people with direct knowledge of the PDB discussions said Gabbard believes that cadence may be a reflection of Trump’s preference for consuming information in a different form than the formal briefing, as well as his distrust of intelligence officials, which stretches back to his first term, when he accused them of spying on his 2016 campaign. They also said that even if the presentation of the PDB changes, the information included would not.

Trump continues to use his personal iPhone, despite warnings about wiretapping

Shortly before the election, federal agencies reported that Chinese hackers were listening in on calls from Trump and his entourage. The hack affected the US telecom infrastructure, which made it possible to monitor calls from personal devices. The team suggested switching to encrypted channels, but Trump stayed on his phone — he picks up the phone even from unfamiliar phone numbers. Hundreds of people, including politicians, businessmen, and journalists, have this number.

Advisers and intelligence warn that calls can be overheard, and the other end may not be the one who claims to be. It is also dangerous that Trump speaks to foreign leaders without preparation, without a team, and without protocols." The White House won't say what protections are being used, but calls Trump “the most accessible president." He himself considers the phone an instrument of influence and is not going to give it up."

Staff of the Federal Emergency Management Agency were confused and dispirited on Monday after the acting head of the agency said during a daily briefing that he had not been aware the country has a hurricane season, according to three sources familiar with the meeting.

The remark was made by David Richardson at the conclusion of an 8:30 a.m. daily operational briefing typically attended by hundreds of FEMA staffers and interagency partners. Reuters was first to report the comment.

Richardson, a former Marine Corps officer, has led FEMA since early May.

It was not clear to staff whether he meant it literally or as a joke, but current and former employees who spoke with CBS News said the comment flustered many who genuinely believe Richardson was truly surprised to learn that hurricane season had started.

Others suggested that any joke made by the leader about the upcoming season was delivered in poor taste, offending agency staff already suffering from low morale amid a flurry of resignations, firings, leadership overhauls and polygraph tests distributed to staffers.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson later suggested the comment wasn't serious.

"Despite meanspirited attempts to falsely frame a joke as policy, there is no uncertainty about what FEMA will be doing this Hurricane Season. FEMA is laser focused on disaster response, and protecting the American people,"

the spokesperson said.

💼 Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former personal attorney, predicts he will “go after” tech billionaire 💸 Elon Musk’s money now that the Tesla CEO’s time as a special government employee has finished.

🗣 “I said from the very start that this bromance was going to come to an end,”

Cohen said on MSNBC.
“I’m going to go one step even further, again, and I’m going to say Trump will ultimately go after Elon’s money next because it bothers him that he is the richest man in the world 💰.”

💬 “Yes, he used him for his money,”

Cohen continued, referring to Trump’s treatment of Musk.

🚀 Musk spent at least $250 million to boost Trump’s 2024 campaign and was tapped to spearhead the cost-cutting initiative to eliminate waste and fraud in government through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

⚖️ Cohen — who has turned into one of the most outspoken Trump critics in recent years — predicted Trump will use DOGE “to figure out how Elon, with his companies, took advantage of the United States of America” and try to “claw back” government subsidies for Tesla.

👑 “He’s going to do to Elon Musk, my prediction, what Mohammed bin Salman did to the other members of the royal family,”

Cohen added, referring to the Saudi crown prince’s crackdown on so-called corruption in 2017.

🔒 Cohen served time in prison for a series of crimes that he said he committed for Trump. He turned on his former boss, cooperating with investigators and giving testimony before Congress.

🧠 Drawing on his own experience, he said everyone in Trump’s inner circle knows that “loyalty with Trump … goes one way,” but they always think they would be different.

🤖 He said Musk “100 percent” thinks that he’s different, adding,
“and so does [Secretary of Commerce Howard] Lutnick and so does [Treasury Secretary Scott] Bessent, and so does [Secretary of State] Marco Rubio, and so does even [Vice President] JD Vance.”

🧨 “They all think that they’re different, that Donald is going to shine the light on them, when push comes to shove,”

Cohen said.

Raskin: We Will Cut Trump’s ‘Reign of Terror in Half’ if Dems Win House in ’26

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said Monday on MSNBC’s “The Weeknight” that if Democrats win the majority in the 2026 midterm election, they would cut President Donald Trump’s “reign of terror in half.”

Raskin said,
“I am focused on the Constitution and defending the rights of the people under the Bill of Rights. I am focused on the Article I powers of Congress, the lawmaking powers of Congress. We have done a dozen different amicus briefs in cases ranging from birthright citizenship to due process to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and we’re winning every single day. So we kind of have to divide the labor up.”

He added,
“People need to be organizers in defense of democracy and freedom. We’ve got to recapture the momentum here so we can defend the judicial independence that’s working for us. We get into next year, we win the House back. we cut this reign of terror in half. And we move on to win back the White House and to get on with American history and our regularly scheduled programs of trying to make progress for the American people. We got to defend our democracy, and we’ve got to defend the programmatic achievements of democracy, like Medicaid and Medicare and Social Security. I think my colleagues are all rising to the occasion now as we adjust to this new arrangement. We’ve got to go in as fighters every single day to defend everything that we believe in.”

There are multiple reasons for the growing distance between Trump and Musk.

🤩EV tax credit cut

Trump’s signature bill eliminates an important consumer tax credit for EV owners, worth up to $7,500, which Tesla reportedly spent $240,000 lobbying to maintain as of late April.

Musk reportedly pleaded with Trump for its retention behind the scenes. Still, it was ultimately unsuccessful, a frustration that lingered despite the president turning the White House lawn into a Tesla dealership in March to help promote Musk’s cars after vandals targeted his showrooms.

🤩Musk wanted to stay on

Axios reports that the billionaire actually wanted to stay on in his role as a “special government employee” beyond its statutory limit of 130 days, despite numerous reported blowups with members of Trump’s cabinet in private.

Ultimately, however, an extension deal could not be reached with the president’s team.

🤩Billionaire wanted air traffic controllers to use Starlink

Another reported disagreement concerned Musk’s appeal to the Federal Aviation Administration to begin using his Starlink satellite technology. This demand was rejected due to both conflict-of-interest concerns and technological reasons.

“You can’t have air traffic control just run off satellites,”
a source told Axios.

Musk’s presence in the West Wing sparked several other conflict-of-interest concerns, the most recent of which saw 42 Democrats write to the Pentagon’s inspector general to sound the alarm over SpaceX’s potential involvement in Trump’s Golden Dome anti-missile defense system.

🤩Trump’s removal of Jared Isaacman as his nominee to be NASA’s next administrator

Among the billionaire’s alleged enemies in the White House was Sergio Gor, director of the Office of Presidential Personnel, with whom he is said to have clashed.

🇺🇸Musk is angry with the withdrawal of the candidacy of his protege for the post of head of NASA and believes that he gave money to the Trump election campaign in vain.

Elon Musk was furious over the Trump administration's decision to withdraw Jared Isaacman's candidacy for the post of head of NASA. The billionaire actively lobbied for the appointment of his close ally and was outraged by this step, complaining to friends that he donated hundreds of millions of dollars to the Trump election campaign, and now sees his proteges being removed. Isaacman has close ties to Musk's SpaceX company, including participating in the company's first private flight to orbit.

It is reported that frustration over the situation with NASA prompted Musk to aggressively criticize the Republican tax and budget bill. In a series of social media posts this week, the tech mogul called the tax bill a "disgusting abomination" and threatened to try to unseat Republican lawmakers who support what he calls a "disgusting" spending package that increases the state budget deficit.

One of President Donald Trump’s New Jersey golf clubs received a 32 out of 100 health inspection score in May, the lowest grade in Somerset County, after it was flagged for 18 violations, including all three requirements in the “food protected from contamination” category.

🌟The Somerset County Department of Health inspected Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster on May 6, according to the report, which is publicly available online.

🌟The club received a score of 32 out of a 100 possible points, with the inspector documenting 18 violations—nine of which were deemed critical, meaning they “may result in an unacceptable health risk.”

🌟The club was out of compliance with all three requirements in the “food protected from contamination” category, with violations including expired milk, raw meat stored improperly and a dishwasher that may not reach the required temperature (the first two problems were corrected during the inspection).

🌟The inspector also cited four separate hand-washing violations, including sinks without soap or paper towels, one lacking a required sign and another used to store a sanitizer bucket.

🌟The club was issued a “conditionally satisfactory” C grade and required to display a placard with the grade in a visible location.

🌟Spokespeople for the Trump Organization and the Somerset County Health Department did not respond to inquiries.

A public health alert has been issued for organic ground beef products that reportedly could be contaminated with E. coli, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced.

The alert, issued by FSIS, applies to some Organic Rancher products distributed to Whole Foods Market locations nationwide.

According to FSIS, there was no recall request since the products are no longer for sale. However, food safety officials are worried that consumers could still have some of the ground beef in their refrigerators or freezers. They advise that the affected product should not be consumed.

Here’s what to check for:

1-pound vacuum-packed packages of “Organic Rancher Organic Ground Beef 85% Lean 15% Fat”

New Yorkers rate the Big Apple’s quality of life — on issues such as public safety, cleanliness and mass transit — significantly worse than the pre-pandemic times and just slightly better than two years ago, a Citizens Budget Commission survey of more than 1,700 residents found.

Just over a third of residents said quality of life in the five boroughs was good or excellent — a significant drop from 2017, when about half of New Yorkers surveyed gave it the top rating.

The deep level of displeasure regarding crime and government services presents a challenge to whoever the next New York City mayor will be next year, according to the CBC’s “Straight from New Yorkers 2025” poll.

“`Straight from New Yorkers 2025′ paints a stark picture: New Yorkers remain much more
dissatisfied with the quality of life, City services, and public safety than they were before
the pandemic,” the business-funded CBC said.

“If New York City is to remain competitive and continue attracting residents and businesses, people have to feel much more positively about many of the aspects of their life in the city.”

The quality of life ratings fall considerably below the rankings residents gave in the same survey conducted in 2017 — though it noted some real progress from a more recent post-pandemic 2023 survey.

Senior US immigration officials over the weekend instructed rank-and-file officers to “turn the creative knob up to 11” when it comes to enforcement, including by interviewing and potentially arresting people they called “collaterals”, according to internal agency emails viewed by the Guardian.

Officers were also urged to increase apprehensions and think up tactics to “push the envelope” one email said, with staff encouraged to come up with new ways of increasing arrests and suggesting them to superiors.

“If it involves handcuffs on wrists, it’s probably worth pursuing,”

another message said.

The instructions not only mark a further harshening of attitude and language by the Trump administration in its efforts to fulfill election promises of “mass deportation” but also indicate another escalation in efforts, by being on the lookout for undocumented people whom officials may happen to encounter – here termed “collaterals” – while serving arrest warrants for others.

The emails, sent by two top Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) officials this past Saturday, instructed officers around the country to increase arrest numbers over the weekend. This followed the Department of Homeland Security secretary, Kristi Noem, and the White House deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, pressing immigration officials last month to jack up immigration-related arrests to at least 3,000 people a day.

One of the emails, written by Marcos Charles, the acting executive associate director of Ice’s enforcement and removal operations, instructs Ice officials to go after people they may coincidentally encounter.

Did Trump Take Part in Epstein’s Sex Boozes?

What had happened? Donald Trump criticized his ex-buddy Elon Musk during a visit to Merz in the Oval Office, he hit back, and visible to the whole world.

On social media, he covered Trump with accusations, accusing him of lying, for example – and even igniting the Epstein scandal!

Musk on X:
"Time to pop the really big bomb. Donald Trump is in the Epstein files."That's" the real reason they weren't made public. Have a nice day, DJT!“

The BBC asked the FBI for an opinion on Musk's claim that Trump appeared in previously unpublished government files related to Epstein. The response of the investigating authority:
"The FBI does not comment on the process.”

There is nothing left of the "bromance" ("brother romance") - now Musk is moving on to open hatred of Trump. He wrote on February 7, 2025:
"I love Donald Trump as much as a heterosexual man can only love another man.”

Trump, on the other hand, continues to post:
"Elon was 'thin-skinned', I asked him to leave, I took away his electric car mandate from him, which forced everyone to buy electric cars that no one else wanted (he knew for months that I would do that!), and he just went CRAZY!”

The gayest event of the month." Media about the quarrel between Trump and Musk

The quarrel between Trump and Musk caused a lot of interest in the world. Here is what the media write about the conflict.

✒️ New York Times

Social media has been flooded with memes depicting Trump and Musk as a divorced couple sharing custody of their child, JD Vance, or two monkeys engaged in a knife fight surrounded by cheering onlookers — a scene from a 2000 episode of The Simpsons.

Others laughed at the breakdown in the relationship between the two men, which coincided with the start of LGBT Pride Month:

"This messy breakup between Trump and Musk is the most gay event of Pride Month."

✒️New York Post

The Trump-Musk feud is similar to an episode of the reality show only with less emotionally stable people.

✒️The Washington Post

The alliance between President Trump and Musk effectively collapsed, turning into mutual public trolling.

💔Multiple allies caught in the middle of the implosion between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk were delicately attempting to broker peace between the two men on Thursday when their quiet conversations were disrupted by a post on X.

💬“Time to drop the really big bomb: realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

Musk wrote, stunning those with close relationships to Trump and Musk.

Several people familiar with what was happening behind the scenes
— who were desperately making phone calls to one another and trying to tamp down the escalating feud — described that as the tipping point, fearing that there was no going back after Musk’s loaded accusation about the president regarding the so-called Epstein files.

While Trump and Musk had largely argued over policy, it had now turned personal.

Officials in the West Wing spent most of Thursday glued to their phones as they watched the battle between the two play out on X and Truth Social. Several aides were sending the updates in group chats, likening it to a divorce and commenting that they expected this would happen, just not this soon.

💬“I thought maybe August,”

one noted to CNN.

White House Press secretary Karoline Leavitt called Musk’s claims an “unfortunate episode” in a statement to CNN Thursday night.

💬“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted. The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again,”

Leavitt said.

Musk has not detailed how he would have gained access to unreleased files related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and has not provided any evidence of where his information was coming from.

Tensions had been growing between the two billionaires throughout the week, as Musk, who recently departed the administration following a time-limited stint as a special government employee, railed against the Trump domestic agenda bill currently making its way through Congress.

But the feud reached new ruptures on social media on Thursday afternoon as Trump floated the termination of Musk’s business contracts with the government and Musk invoked Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.

💬“I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago,”

Trump said on his social platform, Truth Social, complaining about the fight emerging as his administration seeks to pass its policy bill.

Musk soon after called for Trump’s impeachment, threatened to decommission the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that returned NASA astronauts from the International Space Station and said the president’s tariffs would trigger a recession later in the year.

Late Thursday, however, he walked back the plans to decommission the Dragon spacecraft, after an X user encouraged the parties to “Cool off and take a step back for a couple days.”

💬“Good advice,”

the tech billionaire responded.
“Ok, we won’t decommission dragon.”

Billionaire investor Bill Ackman offered similar advice on X, writing:
💬“I support @ realDonaldTrump and @ elonmuskand they should make peace for the benefit of our great country. We are much stronger together than apart.”

💬“You’re not wrong,”

Musk responded.

Tucker Carlson accused Fox News host Mark Levin of “lobbying for war” at the White House on Wednesday, before warning President Donald Trump that a strike on Iran would “end his presidency.”

💬“Mark Levin was at the White House today, lobbying for war with Iran,”

claimed Carlson in a social media post.
💬“To be clear, Levin has no plans to fight in this or any other war. He’s demanding that American troops do it.”

💬The former Fox News host continued:
We need to stop Iran from building nuclear weapons, he and likeminded ideologues in Washington are now arguing. They’re just weeks away.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because the same people have been making the same claim since at least the 1990s. It’s a lie. In fact, there is zero credible intelligence that suggests Iran is anywhere near building a bomb, or has plans to. None. Anyone who claims otherwise is ignorant or dishonest. If the US government knew Iran was weeks from possessing a nuclear weapon, we’d be at war already.

Iran knows this, which is why they aren’t building one. Iran also knows it’s unwise to give up its weapons program entirely. Muammar Gaddafi tried that and wound up sodomized with a bayonet. As soon as Gaddafi disarmed, NATO killed him. Iran’s leaders saw that happen. They learned the obvious lesson.

So why is Mark Levin once again hyperventilating about weapons of mass destruction? To distract you from the real goal, which is regime change — young Americans heading back to the Middle East to topple yet another government. Virtually no one will say this out loud…

It goes without saying that there are very few Trump voters who’d support a regime change war in Iran. Donald Trump has argued loudly against reckless lunacy like this. Trump ran for president as a peace candidate. …A war with Iran would amount to a profound betrayal of his supporters. It would end his presidency. That may explain why so many of Trump’s enemies are advocating for it.

Carlson also warned that a war with Iran could result in the deaths of “thousands of Americans,” collapse the U.S. economy, and plunge America into a Third World War – pointing out Iran’s “extensive” ties to both Russia and China.

💬“An attack on Iran could very easily become a world war. We’d lose,”

wrote Carlson.
💬“Many Americans would die during a war with Iran. People like Mark Levin don’t seem to care about this. It’s not relevant to them. Instead they insist that Iran give up all uranium enrichment, regardless of its purpose. They know perfectly well that Iran will never accept that demand.”
