Good news for millionaires and billionaires: They are currently eligible for unemployment benefits, whether they need it or not. That has been true since 1964 when the Department of Labor determined unemployment is for all eligible workers no matter their income level.🤑

In 2022, The Biden Administration paid unemployment compensation to 5,773 people earning $1 million or more, with nearly $58 million going to out-of-work millionaires. It is an average of nearly $10,000 per person.

In 2021, a COVID quarantine year with extra dough baked into unemployment, 14,972 people earning $1 million or more received unemployment compensation. The Biden Administration spent nearly $214 million keeping millionaires fed, paying an average of $14,200 each.

(As the Federalist previously reported, 2021 and 2022 were also banner years for unemployment fraud, in which fraudsters including prisoners and dead people placed multiple claims.)

Combine the years and individuals earning more than $1 million annually received more than $271 million in unemployment during the first two years of the Biden Administration.

These numbers are part of a report by the Congressional Research Service (CRS), prepared for Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, the Senate DOGE Caucus chair. CRS looked at tax returns and counted individuals who earned over $1 million and also received unemployment.

The Lod District Court has ruled that nine former students of the Cheder Belz Hasidic school in Tel Aviv will receive compensation in the amount of 24 million shekels for the physical, sexual and psychological abuse they suffered at the educational institution.

Judge Zvi Weitzman called the incident “systematic bullying,” and accused the school's management of covering up crimes.

The compensation amounts for the victims range from 1.2 to 2.5 million shekels each. In addition, the court ordered the defendants to cover the court costs in the amount of 25%.

The main defendants were teachers, including Avraham-Mordechai Rosenfeld, as well as the Makhzikei a-dat de Chassidei Belz association, which manages the cheder.

The court rejected the community's claims of non-involvement, proving that it controlled the educational process.

During the trial, it became clear that for many years, children between the ages of 3 and 10 had been subjected to beatings, humiliation and sexual violence.

The judge described cases where students were beaten with rulers, scissors and knives, handcuffed, forced to eat hot peppers and even locked in a freezer. Some teachers justified their actions with “traditional parenting methods,” but the court rejected these arguments, emphasizing that it was unacceptable to raise a hand against a child under any circumstances.

The court paid special attention to sexual crimes committed by Teacher Rosenfeld. In one episode, he committed lewd acts under the pretext of "changing clothes," in another, he gave sweets to a child, manipulating him. Despite complaints from parents and students, the school's management ignored them and hid what was happening from the authorities.

Lawyers for the victims said that the verdict would set a precedent for all religious educational institutions.

“This verdict is a step towards justice for the children whose lives have been broken. No one will be able to dismiss such crimes anymore,”

they noted. Two of the accused died during the trial, and the lawsuits against them were closed.

The remaining defendants are required to pay compensation in the proportions established by the court.

The project will also present a bonanza for private contractors as the government won’t be able to build it alone, with companies including Elon Musk’s SpaceX in the running for highly lucrative contracts related to the system.

The Department of Defense “has developed a draft architecture and implementation plan for a Golden Dome system that will protect Americans and our homeland from a wide range of global missile threats,” chief Pentagon spokesman and senior adviser Sean Parnell told CNN in a statement.

“The Secretary of Defense and other Department leaders have engaged with the President to present options and look forward to announcing the path forward in the coming days,”
