Our family loves supporting small family business this time of year. This is the second year we've gone to this pumpkin farm and the kids love picking their own pumpkins!

My 2 year old is collecting black walnuts on the property! Going to prepare them to dry out and then have delicious walnuts to eat 😋

We have discussed various methods of making kraut and other ferments several times before, but just in case you're one who is curious, here's a simple method we do in our house:
It's easy and so very nutritious. 7 heads produced about 2.5 gallons tonight as pictured. I shred it, sprinkle generously with sea salt, and pound it with a wooden mallet till it gets juicy. Then press into the jars. (Ideally the juice covers it all) and let them sit on the counter for about a week or so (release the gas a couple times a day by partly unscrewing the lids). Then transfer to the fridge. We like it best after it's finished/aged in the fridge for at least 2 to 3 weeks. 🥰-V

Watching my sons grow up, develop their unique personalities and seeing them get smarter everyday is so wonderful. My oldest sings in the choir, is learning to play piano and a second language. My middle child is a master builder and has an incredible imagination. My youngest is talking quite a bit now and such a ham. The days are long but the years are short! I am blessed ❤️
