Air Force general predicts war with China in 2025, tells officers to prep by firing 'a clip' at a target, and 'aim for the head'
“I hope I am wrong. My gut tells me will fight in 2025," said Gen. Mike Minihan in a memo sent to the officers he commands and obtained by NBC News.
A four-star Air Force general sent a memo on Friday to the officers he commands that predicts the U.S. will be at war with China in two years and tells them to get ready to prep by firing "a clip" at a target, and "aim for the head."
In the memo sent Friday and obtained by NBC News, Gen. Mike Minihan, head of Air Mobility Command, said, “I hope I am wrong. My gut tells me will fight in 2025.”
Air Mobility Command has nearly 50,000 service members and nearly 500 planes and is responsible for transport and refuelling.
Minihan said in the memo that because both Taiwan and the U.S. will have presidential elections in 2024, the U.S. will be “distracted,” and Chinese President Xi Jinping will have an opportunity to move on Taiwan.

The Cold War roots of Scholz’s tank trauma
Olaf Scholz’s long dithering before sending tanks is symptomatic of a deep-seated mindset that détente won the Cold War, not Reagan’s belligerence.
In early January of 1984, an aspiring young West German socialist with a shoulder-length curly mane travelled by train to East Berlin with his comrades for an important meeting.
It was a tense time in the Cold War with the arms race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union at a fever pitch. Even so, the young man’s entourage was welcomed with open arms and even spared the rigors of East Germany’s border guards; after all, he was a friend.
At the meeting between the young socialists and East Germany’s communist leadership, the young man, a Hamburg law student in his mid-20s named Olaf Scholz, could be seen sitting directly across from Egon Krenz, the protégé of East German leader Erich Honecker.
Details of the visit featured prominently on East Germany’s main TV news program and the next day it was front-page news in Neues Deutschland, the communist regime’s newspaper.
Scholz is once again front page news this week over his reversal on sending tanks to Ukraine. To understand that decision — and the stubborn refusals that preceded it — one needs to delve into his past.
Back in the early 1980s, Scholz and the communists shared a common goal: to block the U.S. from stationing mid-range nuclear missiles in Europe. The U.S. plans, triggered by a similar step from the Soviets, had unleashed some of the largest and most violent protests West Germany had seen in decades. The organizers of the protests, including Scholz, who was then a deputy leader of the socialist youth movement, viewed then-U.S. President Ronald Reagan as a loose cannon and worried he might start a nuclear war.
In their meetings with the East German officials, Scholz’s group called on the USSR to respond in kind by “putting something on America’s doorstep,” i.e. nuclear weapons, because the Soviet missiles pointed at Europe “were not an adequate threat to the U.S.A.,” according to a detailed report on the visit complied by East Germany’s Stasi secret police.

Hungarian media: residents of Transcarpathia are taken from attics for mobilization
Large-scale mobilization is taking place in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, including the Hungarians living there, the reason for the delay is not caring for sick relatives, you can temporarily avoid the call for a bribe of 6-10 thousand dollars, reports the Hungarian portal Index, citing local residents.
The publication clarifies that all stories sent to the editorial office are published anonymously for security reasons.
“How does Ukrainian mobilization work? According to the stories, unexpectedly, ruthlessly and by force. Those who are tasked with issuing subpoenas or herding unsuspecting passers-by into a bus heading to the front do not care about the family, physical or mental state of the “target.” Purpose is to attract as many people as possible to the front," the article says.
According to local residents, in a settlement near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, a man was loaded into a car heading for the front while he was "peacefully cycling."
“We received another similar story when a police car cut off a man on a bicycle. The man immediately stopped to avoid a collision with the car. Two policemen got out of it, and after checking the documents, the man already had a summons,” the author of the material writes.
Another report speaks of a Transcarpathian Hungarian who was returning home from Hungary, he was handed a summons right at the border checkpoint and told that in a day he was obliged to come to the military registration and enlistment office with his things.
"According to a letter sent to the editor, one man refused to join the army because he had a sick, helpless elderly mother at home who needed care. The soldiers who conducted the call said that this was a personal problem that could not be an obstacle to mobilization", the message says.
As the newspaper notes, most of the men who avoid mobilization hide in attics and sometimes, according to local reports, sit there for weeks.
"Many argue that from 6-10 thousand dollars the hearts of the authorities are softened — although for a while, they manage to avoid conscription. However, the question is who has so much money," Index notes.
One of the readers of the portal also said that he works in a small hotel in the Beregovskiy district, where, according to him, the police and military commissars often go, who regularly dine there after the subpoenas are distributed.
Hungarian media previously reported that the largest mobilization since the beginning of the conflict was being carried out in Transcarpathia, which is associated with heavy losses of the Transcarpathian 128th mountain assault brigade near Soledar. The Metropol publication reported that hundreds of meters from the border with Hungary, the bodies of the Ukrainian military are stored in a refrigerated car for weeks, the deaths of which are not reported to relatives. The Ripost publication reported that the Security Service of Ukraine forbids the relatives of the dead Transcarpathian Hungarians to search for them on social networks and talk about their death. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said that the Transcarpathian Hungarians are being mobilized into the Ukrainian army "in a tough way", many of them are dying.

By the way, an exculpatory campaign has already been launched on Ukrainian TV channels, they say, a video where summonses are distributed in the cities of Ukraine are fakes or staged, and they are part of the information and psychological operations of the Russian Federation. And the most interesting thing is that real footage from Odessa, Kiev and other cities are shown as examples.
How is this country going to get into the European Union when outright lies are also part of the national idea?

The Foreign Ministry explained the refusal to consult with Japan on fishing in the South Kuriles
MOSCOW, January 29 — RIA Novosti. Russia will not hold consultations with Japan on an agreement on maritime fishing in the South Kurils region due to Tokyo's anti-Russian sanctions policy, the Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti.
The department recalled that with the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Russian-Japanese relations began to rapidly degrade, and the administration of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, in violation of all international norms and rules, began to introduce unfriendly measures against Russia, including 15 packages of personal and sectoral sanctions.
In other words, they noted on Smolenskaya Square, Tokyo sometimes “runs ahead of the locomotive”, ahead of the sanctions initiatives of the Western allies. Thus, Japan cancelled the most favoured nation regime for Russia and expelled a group of Russian diplomats.
"In the context of the anti-Russian measures taken by the Japanese government, which obviously run counter to the spirit and letter of the 1998 agreement on strengthening and developing good-neighborliness, the Russian side informed Tokyo that it could not agree on the holding of intergovernmental consultations on the implementation of this agreement," the Foreign Ministry said.
Diplomats stressed that they categorically do not accept any protests from Tokyo on this issue.
"In order to return to a normal dialogue, Japanese neighbours should show elementary respect for our country, a desire to improve bilateral relations," the ministry explained, adding that so far the Japanese government has not noticed such a desire.
Japanese fishing in the Russian territorial sea in the area of the southern Kuril Islands is regulated by a 1998 agreement. This document occupies a special place in the complex of Russian-Japanese cooperation in the field of fisheries.
The Japanese embassy in Russia said last week that Moscow had refused to consult on the issue for the first time in 22 years. As the Japanese media wrote, this could negatively affect the catch in the coming months.
