Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court has ordered lawmaker Oleksii Kuznetsov to be held in custody for the next 60 days with the option to be released on a Hr 8 million ($192,000) bail.
Kuznetsov, representing President Volodymyr Zelensky's Servant of the People party, is suspected of taking part in a high-level corruption scheme tied to military procurement, Suspilne reported from the courtroom on Aug. 4.
Kuznetsov is one of the six suspects accused of embezzling state funds during the purchase of drones and electronic warfare equipment.
Kuznetsov was among several officials detained in connection with an investigation by Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), who on Aug. 2 revealed a major bribery scheme involving inflated state contracts for drones and electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
According to investigators, officials involved in the scheme allegedly received up to 30% of contract funds as kickbacks. Among those detained are Kuznetsov and former Luhansk Oblast Governor Serhii Haidai.
According to NABU, the corruption network involved a current lawmaker, a former regional governor, leaders of city and district military administrations, a National Guard commander, and a drone supplier. Ukrainian media identified other suspects as Andrii Yurchenko, head of Luhansk's Rubizhne district, and several other officials.
Officials reportedly used a coordinated method of inflating government contracts and taking bribes in return. The pattern was repeated with both drone and EW system procurement during 2024–2025, the investigation found.

Zelensky: Today, I was with those defending our country in the Vovchansk direction – the warriors of the 17th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 57th Brigade named after Kish Otaman Kost Hordiienko.
We spoke with commanders about the frontline situation, the defense of Vovchansk, and the dynamics of the battles. We also specifically addressed the issues of drone supply and deployment, recruitment, and direct funding for the brigades. Our warriors in this sector are reporting the participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and African countries in the war. We will respond.
I presented our defenders with state awards. It is an honor for me to be here. Thank you for fighting, serving your state and the Ukrainian people, and for supporting one another.

Statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The Russian Federation no longer considers itself bound by the moratorium on the deployment of ground-based intermediate- and shorter-range missiles."
"Decisions on specific parameters of response measures will be made by the leadership of the Russian Federation based on an interdepartmental analysis of the scale of deployment of American and other Western land-based intermediate-range missiles, as well as the general development of the situation in the area of international security and strategic stability."

The Netherlands is donating a support package worth 500 million euros to Ukraine. This is part of a new American initiative, the so-called Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). NATO allies take military equipment from the United States' stockpiles for Ukraine. With this contribution, the Netherlands is the first to finance a full package, making it the first NATO ally to donate funds to Ukraine through this new initiative.

Russia has closed the airspace over the Kapustin Yar test site from 4 to 8 August. This may indicate planned missile launches or tests, including ICBMs.
Regular NOTAMs and the actual ban on the use of airspace do not equate to a guaranteed attack by the enemy.
However such a notice was issued on 24 and 25 February 2022, as well as during the use of Oreshnik in the Dnipro River.

In St. Petersburg, "trad" Ruzzia, a "trad" ruzzian woman, soiled the entire entrance of an apartment building and calmly went about her business.
The "trad" woman left piles and puddles in various places. And she decided to wipe herself with someone's paper from the mailbox. This moment was caught on video.
Who needs toilets anyway? The "trad" way is to defecate anywhere you want.
